Default Heating Problem

Initially when I bought my car last October there was no heat; this was fixed after a blockage was cleared. Now the heating works most of the time but when I adjust the heater control from hot to cool I do get cool air but if I then adjust it back to hot I don't get any heat.
Has this happened to anybody else is there a fix please?

Regards

Elena

Maybe this part is not working properly.
Does the problem apply to both sides of the car or just one?

I think 100/80 nailed it... my car does the opposite, or it DID - it would go "full hot" often (driver side only) when I set the heat dial to anything above full cold.

I had the cooling system flushed, and, since then, I have not experienced the problem. It would appear that valve/servo-thing can act up.

Hi

It happens to both sides, would I be able to replace these or is it a mechanics job?

Cheers

That is a dual-valve that controls coolant flow - so you probalby should bleed the system down and then refill properly - beyond what I am comfortable doing with my limited garage/tool/equipment situation.

You can go from hot to cool, but you say you cannot go back to hot. What do you do to to get it back to hot again, turn off the car and restart it?
You must do something or it would only have happened once if you see what I mean.

Yes, when I next use the car I usually have heat then but it's not always guaranteed, glad I got the heater in*the seat fixed though.

Cheers
