looks like I'm going to have to replace my top because of the window problem, I spoke with the Chrysler factory rep and she cannot do anything for me. OK, so my car is Aero Blue, I don't want another black top because of the heat it generates and I'm not so sure the color didn't hasten the detach problem, so does anyone have any suggestions in a lighter color that looks good on the Aero Blue color ?? Using Gahh top this time around.
Re: top talk
The Aero Blue sure would look slick with a tan top... Unfortunately I have never seen one. That being said, I'm assuming you gave them the TSB number when you spoke to Chrysler? I was under the impression that SC was one of the states you are able to get the '05 top replaced under warranty. Given the cost, and assuming your local dealer was unreceptive to replacing the top under warranty, it certainly seems it'd be worth it to call around a bit and see if any others nearby are willing to foot the bill for the replacement.
Might be worth giving these guys a call though? GAHH: Convertible Tops, Auto Interiors, Quality Convertible Tops

Re: top talk
yes I'm aware of that but I can't understand why just that model year is being replaced as they were all made the same way to my knowledge, unfortunately mine is a 2006, purchased in 2007 from our local dealer. Some of the convertible top shops I've been talking with tell me that the rear window detach problem is not a Crossfire problem alone, they said many other makes were made with that same process. ....I like the car except for the issues with the top.

Any chance you have any photos? I'm sure I'm not the only one who would love to see the final result!
Re: top talk
hi earlybird, its been awhile but i seem to remember the cost was around $1500. i live 50 miles from tampa so i drove down to let them see the original top and they were familiar with the problem which affects other cars as well as crossfire. i went thru the shop and saw the high end cars (mb, ferrari, porsche) they were working on and i was impressed also with the choices and the price as well as the solution to the window problem. also, since my car is an'05 when the top recall was issued by chrysler and i called and chrysler refunded the price of the new top when i submitted the bill. i was the happiest of campers. my advice, find a local upholstery-top shop, do your homework and fix the problem and pick your top color and material.
Re: top talk
OK so I decided to repair the rear window myself since the fabric is really in good condition, and the way I see it I have nothing to lose if it should fail as many have warned me it will, I can then replace the top with a new one if I can find the right top shop to do it. This repair should buy me some time to look around and find the right shop and fabric. I used a 3M adhesive called 5200 in black. The separation was only in one corner at the top so it was an easier fix since the glass had not come all the way out and still partially attached.
All marine stores carry 3M 5200 and my experience with it on boats and marine use has been very good. It takes a full 7 days to cure so we'll see how it does. Thanks again for all the suggestions and advice. This top defect affects all Crossfire owners eventually.
