Considering Roadster
I am considering a Roadster and was curious to hear from some of the taller folks about how this car works for you. I am 6'1" and a little concerned over the overall ergonomics for tall people.
Also, any comments you might want to add about the Coupe vs. the Roadster would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Frank McCamant

I am 6', 200 lbs. and have no problem, The drivers seat goes back far enough so that your left leg can almost be fully extended. Head clearence is also OK. Check it out before buying, you can also position the sterring wheel closer or farther to you liking. I have a friend who has a coupe, he claims to have a bit of a probkem getting in. In the Rodester, with the top down it is as easy as it gets, with the top up I have learned to back into it first, then swing your legs in. The door opens really wide, which makes it easy to get in. JFK
Thanks JFK. One other quick question - do you sit so that you have a clear view out the windshield? I had an old MGB once and the top of the windshield was right at my eye level, leaving me with the choice of either bending down to look under the windshield or sitting up high to look over it!!
We rented a Saab turbo convertible to go from Albany to Lake Placid last year & loved it. I'm hoping the XF ragtop is similar.
Thanks, fcm

Coupe or convertible?? What to do? They boyh have lots of leg room and if your not overly long in the body you shouldn't have any issues. The conv. looks great! The only reasons I decided on the coupe was: 1) I could fit 2 sets of golf clubs in the coupe but not in the conv. 2) I learned from my old MB 380 that you don't want to lock the car as they will just slice the rag top if they want in. (as with any conv.) 3) Too many health issues with the sun 4) too much wind (my wife will get her hair mussed up, and me too) 5) It's cold in Canada. Personal choice only and I am sure you would love them both. What a great car!
I'm 6' 1" and didn't think the Roadster would work but when it finally arrived at my dealer I found there was enough adjustment in the seat to work if it is all the way back against the back wall. After proving it would work I just placed the order. I was definitely getting a convertible. Like you I grew up on British roadsters and had to have another convertible after the kids had grown and and on their own. Price wise it just gives you more than the competition. Looked at the S2000 and the TT Roadster (Porsche and MB 350 are out of my league). With the incentives and the interest rates nothing comes close. I personally prefer the look of the Roadster over the coupe too. Ordered mine in Black with Dark slate and Cedar interior. Should be here in time for the spring. Good luck on your decision.
Good choice and congrats.
I also own a 05' Black Roadster get ready for a lot of cleaning/waxing/polishing, if yiou are as **** as I am about a clean car.

Frank. Don't worry about the Roadster. I'm 6' 4" and have no problem fitting in the car. I could not however fit in the coupe. I think unless you want the extra trunk space the convertable will be the better choice for you. Otherwise, if you fit ok, the coupe is a nice alternative and is easier on the wallet.
How do you like the black with the black and cedar? I love the black with the balck and vanilla but can't imagine how tough that white interior is to keep clean. As far as the black is concerned I'm hoping that since the car will never be out in the rain or snow etc. it shouldn't be too hard to keep clean.
I love the cedar interior. It's not something you see everyday and it doesn't seem hard to keep clean. I too really liked the vanilla, but I was worried about it showing dirt over time. As far as the black paint goes, it is a whole lot of work to keep clean. I rarely let my car go for more than a week without getting it washed and in between I try to keep the shine fresh with zaino gloss enhancer and microfiber towels. Since we have almost a foot of snow hear I won't have to worry about the upkeep for now. My car will stay garaged until warmer weather is hear and there is no salt on the roads.
I don't know about the rest of you but 1 or 2 days is the max I can go without cleaning my black roadster. What I use to get rid of the dust on it is a product called California Car Duster. it is wax impregnated duster that with a few swipes get rid of all the dust on it. Most Car Dealers use it or something similar for their showroom. Makes for a dust free car in between washes

No-one should be without a California Duster! All the guys at the car shows have them. The dirter they get, the better they work. Had them for over 20 years and I always have one in the car. They clean the dust but don't mark the paint.
I also have a black Lexus and it's impossible to keep it clean without it!
