Default Battery recommendations

Changed my oil this morning and checked the date on my Battery!

2011, I'm thinking i should since when they go they don't leave a note saying goodbye!

What's the best!

I see these racing battery's but that doesn't give you longevity does it?

Definitely go with an AGM battery, still a little more expensive, but you can forget the spills that eat your car while you are not looking.

When you say racing batteries Exide does a lot of Adds but they build the worst automotive battery, the other one That sells a lot of adds is the Optima round cell, at one time GNB sold it, GNB auto is one of the worst, how can I say this I worked for Exide industrial for over 13 years, then I worked for GNB industrial batteries neither company made cast grids for the auto batteries, I have been retired from that industry for 17 years. GNB for 8 1/2 years.

Defintely AGM. My SRT6 was leaking a little acid and eating away the paint. Cleaned it all up and replaced a perfectly good battery - no more problems. Did the same a month later for the 'vert. Just good insurance.

What Mfg. Exide sells a sealed battery but it is a gel cell, not what you want, some are made by Johnson Control.

Probably too late, but see post #3. Really top notch AGM battery from East Penn, about $180 with shipping to Nashville.
( and YES, radio is all that will need resetting, remember, negative off first, negative on last )

SOMETIMES, people say that the brake system light comes on with a battery reconnection. Never has happened to me, but some report that.

Just do the wheel-all-the-way-to-the-left-then-all-the-way-to-the-right thing and you should be good.

I have one of those gadgets that uses a 9V battery to apply power through the cigarette lighter and it works great. Just the trickle power keeps all of the presets while changing batteries. It's called a Settings Keeper.

I think that it is triggered when the steering wheel is not centered when the battery is reconnected. I saw the same thing on my 06 Charger

I've disconnected and removed the batteries multiple times on both cars and never had to reset anything. Much easier than my freaking Audis.

I would say that is probably correct, my OEM radios always kept the presets and only once did the steering have to be reset. It probably was not on center as you say.

I get a battery light every time but it always goes away when i turn the wheel. My aftermarket radio always resets my settings, but I am not sure what you have.

I'm not sure who your response is referring to.
My OEM always kept the settings but my new Kenwood forgets everything.

No one in particular. Just adding my experience to the conversation. I love redoing my settings
