Default I need to mod the spoiler ???

Hi all,
New here, happy Xmas, :-)

I didn't go out of my way to buy this crossfire but I was owed some cash and got it cheap,
2004 crossfire convertible, 60k miles full history.

Well I must say in this rare occasion I think Clarkson is wrong, the car is a joy to drive and I'm enjoying it.
I've owned 2 slk,s wasn't impressed with handling, 4 tt,s love them, boxster engine is crap,
Most people think a 2 seater sports car should feel every bump in the road, the crossfire to me is tuned just enough to let you drive it daily without the need for a chiropractor , whilst retaining the handling, stiff chassis and plenty of power,

Anyhow there is 1 thing that has upset me!
Here's the scenario.
I'm at 130mph the spoiler is up, someone in a silly loud car is close to flat out behind me,
I've had enough of listening to there exhaust note,
I floor it, the crossfire shifts down a gear, lovely,,
I reach for the spoiler button to wave goodbye :-)
It won't operate manually because it up and wants to be there,,

Has anyone added a mod to wave the spoiler, maybe a timer relay and extra button?

Cheers
Barks

So at 130 mph you think that something that keeps the car stable should be flapped up and down?
To top it all you will be driving with one hand, makes a lot of sense to me ..................... not.
It was with those speeds in mind that the spoilers had to be added to these cars.

There's always 1 on every forum, didn't take long to find this 1,
If the car was a manual would you never change gear because you needed to take one of your hands off the wheel. ?
If I nodded it I wouldn't have it close fully only half way and immediately back up maybe 3 times, and only use it whilst in a straight line, as I would think the spoiler is there to improve stability whilst cornering or sharp overtaking maneuvers.

Why am I bothering to reply, god knows. Is your nickname your age??

Lmao

With the speed the spoiler operates at it would be a very slow wave, like the Queens wave from her coach going along Pall Mall.

Just dropping a gear when they are flat out should be enough. Years ago I had a Devin-Jag with manual electric overdrive & could drop from fourth over to fourth to third over to third at the ton.

I expect the 2.87 gear to be interesting.

Welcome to the forum Barks. To give you the best answer I can about the spoiler, its main purpose it's there, is to help prevent lift. Like the Audi TT's the Crossfire gets very light above the century mark. At 130 you really wouldn't want to be changing positions of the spoiler simply for safety reasons.
The spoiler can be disabled just by pulling a fuse, then you can install a "kill" switch to keep it down all the time. But when you hit 90 mph an alarm goes off telling you that your spoiler isn't working and you need to back off. That's when you manually flip the switch and raise the spoiler. As long as you can keep it under 65mph, you can wave your spoiler as much as you want.

There is no way in Hell that wing is going to obey your commands at that speed. Try it below 90 and it'll work - but as has been said - it does not move very fast anyway.

Has, it come to this - wagging the spoiler to say "goodbye". What's wrong with the American standard - stick your arm out the window and flip him off.
