Angry Tonneau Cover

Ok, a new question/new problem with tonneau cover....
I took a old 10mm wrench and grinded it down so it would fine in the slot. Found the nut(?) it fits on and for the next 1hr., my buddy and me tried to get the cover to lock. We could get the mechanism to lock but not with the tonneau cover down. I could not see any reason for the cover not to lock. Fit tight like it did when the hydraulics would lock it up. Finally said the hell with it, hopefully ever thing will be back to normal when the 2 cylinders get rebuilt and re-installed.

Which way are your trying to rotate the cam? As you insert the wrench, you push the wrench towards the passenger side of the car until it clicks. If your wrench's jaws are not offset like the original tool, I can't see how you can push the wrench far enough to get it to latch.

PizzaGuy,
I 1st made sure that the latch was unlocked, then closed tonneau cover and turned wrench towards the passenger side. I heard it clinch, then I tried to raise the cover, and I could raise it. So unlocked it, lowered it again and had my buddy push down on the cover around the latch and again inserted wrench and moved it towards passenger side, we both heard it click, but again could raise tonneau cover. If you have a roadster, have you given this a try to see if it works for you. Got me stymied??

Yea, do it all the time to keep in practice for emergencies and I recommend all owners do so. When it clicks, the lid is locked into the latch and you are done - I can't imagine what is going on with yours.

(I need to update this video as to the availability of the $30 all-in-one tool that MB makes available now........)

I bought one of those tools, arrived the other day, right after the wrench was grinded down, lol. $37 and change. Works perfect, still can lock tonneau cover. I guess I'll just wait till I get my cylinders back and put everything back together and make sure it all works that way. Thanks for your response PizzaGuy.
