Top won’t release

I have a 2006 roadster that until recently the top was working fine. Now when I release the top, the windows go down and I hear the motor working but the back of the top won’t release from the back top of the trunk. I also found a small white plastic piece in the trunk. I’ve taken it to two places already and no one can seem to help, including the Chrysler dealership. I love the car but I’m about at the point where I’m ready to get rid of it over this.

Have you checked the fluid level in the top pump reservoir ?

It was below the min level but I had it filled when the problem first started.

Release the rear bow lock manually ( through the trunk with a 6mm hex ) and see if it continues.
( shut the trunk after releasing before pressing down again )

Was able to unlock it and it did release and start to go up but struggled. Didn’t open to begin storing the top and then didn’t want to close. Could it be the actuators? Also, do you happen to know where the plastic piece in my original post goes?
