Default All weather floor mats

I recently purchased a 2005 Crossfire convertible. Black exterior with cedar interior.

I have Chrysler branded all weather floor mats that, for the life of me, I can't get to snap in place. They are designed for this vehicle but do not want to snap into the points in the floor.

I'm sure I'm missing something basic, but is there a trick to installing floor mats. I wouldn't think it would be that hard.

Thank you in advance.

Do you still have the carpet ones? If so do they snap in? Could be as easy as the back of the mat snaps are bent. Compare the two if you have them. I would take a picture of the back of my mat snaps but I am not at home right now. You inspired me to go hunting for the slush/all weather mats and can you believe I found a new pair still out there! Well they say they have them we will see. Would not be the first time that I got my money back on something that was out of stock.

No, unfortunately I do not have the carpet mats. The car only came with the all weather mats.

I'm still out of the country right now so when I get back I will take a picture of the back of my mats at the snap and you can compare. Or someone else may beat me to it.

Well, I appreciate you reaching out. I checked the clips on the back and they do not seem to be broken. I'll try to add pictures of the back when I can.

I hadn't seen where you tried cleaning out all the sand/dirt in the clips before attempting installation. Also, after you clean them add a small dab of petroleum jelly around the upper clips, then use something soft to tap them on (like a rubber mallet). Good luck!

I installed intro tech hexamat custom floor mats from Amazon for around $50. They are precision cut and fit very well. Just thought I would mention it for anyone who prefers all weather rubber like material two the carpeted floor mats or to use as a floor liner underneath carpet mats.

Good people,

Love those all-weather mats!

I am a new owner of a 2005 roadster that I will receive on Wednesday. It is a right-hand drive Crossfire (I am in South Africa). Do any of you know if the floor mats are interchangeable between left-hand drive Crossfires made for North America and right-hand drive Crossfires made for the United Kingdom?

I am assuming they are different due to position of the wheel well, but haven’t seen anything definitive on that.

I checked the threads, but haven't found anything on that.

Many thanks for any info.

John

Your assumption is correct, they are mirror opposite.

You do not say what the actual problem is, are the snaps too close together, too far apart or just will not snap together.
The snaps can be purchased separately if they are damaged.

I have these factory all-weather mats in my Crossfire and they snap in just fine. I also have the factory carpet mats for my car. I keep these snapped into place and just lay the all weather mats over the top. I might have to re-position the all-weather mats every once in awhile, but it's not a big deal to me. Keeps me from having to keep a set of mats stored soemwhere in my garage.

Per suggestions already provided, I would make sure the snaps are cleaned thoroughly and then identify what condition they appear to be in. Spare snaps can be had, if needed. The mats do take some effort to get them to snap in place & must be aligned well with the locating pin.

The exact OEM carpet mats are no longer available new from Chrysler. But there are many aftermarket carpet mats from sources (e.g., Lloyd Mats) that are identical & in many cases have better features (e.g., labeling) that the OEM versions.

If you're still interested in locating a good set of all-weather mats for the Crossfire, I ordered a set of ExactMats back in March of 2020. These are well made and fit exactly into the PS & DS foot wells. THey also produce all-weather mats for the trunks in both Coupe & Roadster, which are different. If interested, I can take some pictures of these for you to look over. I keep this set as a spare in case the OEM all-weather mats deteriorate.

I cannot see the need for all weather mats unless you drive in snowy weather or live on a pig farm, which I don’t.
A little bit of rain never hurts the regular mats. I washed my mats in the laundry sink with detergent and they came up like new. They dried quick when left vertically in the sun.
The big trouble is they get dented as does the carpet underneath where your foot rests.

I wear work boots all the time for my job and eventuially wore out my carpet mats (they hed a hole in them(=) and went looking for all weather mats.
I got some of these on Ebay for around that price. They were suprisingly accurate and well built! I highly recomend them.
