My Crossfire SRT Roadster came with a mesh wind blocker that rattles at high speeds. I think it might be slightly bent and I need to attach it to the roll bars with double sided tape. But that's not the point - I am wondering what really is the best wind blocker. The mesh ones like so many cars use or the plexiglass ones? I like the ones with the neon lights they are pretty cool.
I guess for mesh it's weird that it doesn't go down all the way but rather leaves an opening between the seats, where air can get in. But most convertibles actually use mesh wind blockers.

What is the verdict on what's best? Also if it is in fact mesh, is there one that is better than the other?
The downside to mesh is visibility. It's hard to see through it.

Would love to hear the different opinions and which manufacturer you can suggest.

 

When I bought my car it had a wind deflector in it. I drove home 2 hours at about 75mph with the top down and it rattled the whole way home, so I ripped it out.
Just a couple of weeks ago, I found that some of the plastic silencers were out of place and some were missing. So I fixed them and I put it back in.
No rattles, but I really don't notice a difference with it in or out. The only cool thing is that you can put a sign or logo on the plastic ones.

 

I prefer the Adameshwindscreen
It provides superior wind reduction and produces no glare or reflection as the plexiglass can
Comes with a bracket designed for easy install and thumb **** screws for easy removal

I bought this one on EBay at Christmas “from me to me”. I really like it. Looks the same as Valk’s.

 

Ditto on the Airax mesh deflector. Works great, even mutes headlight reflections in the rear view mirror.

 

Does anyone's mesh windshield rattle at speeds over 60? I am trying to figure out if it's bent of if there is a solution. Previous owner put it on and it looks just like Valk's. I don't know if it's bent or if there is something else I'm missing. Seems to keep hitting the top of the roll-over protector behind the seat on driver side.

 

Mine has no rattles although I'm 6'1" tall and have my seat all the way back and it is against the windscreen all the time

 

No rattles. Mine is tight up against the roll bars.

 

No rattles at high speeds I added a cup holder and a light peace of metal to close the gap at the bottom works grate.

 

Does your windblocker also have a bracket (as mine seen here does) that attach to the the screws that hold your cup holder ??
If so i suspect you need to use longer screws

 

Yes the same bracket I drilled and tapped into it and used new screws on top and into the cup holder.

 

I have always wondered why the windscreen leaves that gap. Do you feel any noticable difference? The plexiglass extends all the way down but the mesh windshields don't and always wondered why. Cause if air can get through what's the point?

 

I didn't lick the gap so first I put a strip of black foam in it and the little bit of wind that was coming in stopped so I found some metal and cut to fit.

I have the mesh one and no rattles. Works just fine, keeps the wind buggeting down, dampens glare from headlights of following car.

 

I bought the oem windscreen because I wanted it to be totally Crossfire. It fastens with velcro between the footman loops and does a half-*** job of blocking the wind. But I am short and with the windows up it works just fine, although it catches occasional bugs and always raindrops.

Remember the old joke about the "Happy Biker"??? This was what came to mind when I read the previous post. Congrats on the wind screen for your XF, I've never owned a convertible buy everyone who does (for the most part) just LOVE the freedom.
