Default New Rear Bumper on 06 Roadster?

I hate to sound clueless, but I saw something today on a yellow XF Roadster (when it passed me on the highway) that I've never noticed before. It had 4 "quarter" sized circles positioned, or spaced equally, across the middle section of the rear bumper. They looked very much like the "pressed in" circles that you see on the rear bumpers of newer, full size Cadillac's. Does anybody know what they are? Is it a plug that pops out to gain access to something hidden under the bumper or what? It looked as though it was something that came from the factory, and not added later. If all Roadsters have these, and I simply never noticed them before, boy am I going to feel stupid. So be gentle, OK?...Thanks.

Those are the backup alarm sensors. This is an accessory that can be purchased through your Chrysler dealer to give an alarm when there is something in the path of the vehicle while backing. For $300 plus installation, you can have them on any Crossfire.

Thanks Rick, I've never seen them on a Crossfire, and I always wondered what they were on the Caddy's. Guess you never know until you ask. I'm surprised I haven't read anything about them in any of the automotive mags either.

they're optional on everything from Ford minivans to fancy Caddy SUVs. some higher end trucks even have back-up cameras, so you can see what's behind you. there was recently a little boy who got run over by dad backing out of the driveway. i think he survived, but it just pads my dislike of SUVs even more...

What I need is a stoplight camera... So I don't have to duck to see the stoplight when I'm the first one at the intersection .

...are the backup sensors really necessary on a Crossfire? This is by far the shortest car that I've ever owned, and if use the mirrors, it is extremely easy to parallel park in a tight space. If I had a minivan or Caddy DTS, I might need this kind of accessory (as every last inch of clearance from the bumpers would be used when easing into a space).

Thanks guys for all the info. Really, it's not like I've been living in a "spider hole" for the last few years or anything. I've known about the different back-up warning devices, cameras, and all for some time. I just never associated the "things" I've noticed on the back bumpers of Caddy's as sensors, that's all. When I saw them on the Crossfire yesterday, it never dawned on me that's what they were, even though I think I've heard them mentioned right here on the Forum. That's just one thing that's so great about this Forum, a wealth of knowledge, and alot of really great people willing to help out. Once again, thanks.
