Gene Haas
I saw in this month's Today's Machining World magazine they have an interview with Gene Haas, 52 year old owner and founder of Haas Automation in CA, where they ask him:
"What car do you drive? I have three of them; a little Chrysler Crossfire, which is an absolute blast to drive. It is a six-speed convertible. It's like an old speedster. I have a Toyota truck for hauling crap around, and then I have a Hummer H2. I also have a Ferrari. The car I'm trying to get is one of the Ford GTs."
I think it's cool that he lists the xf 1st and likes to drive that one the best! I wonder how many other "notable" people drive Crossfires?

If I had read just the beginning and the end of that list, I would have thought that Mr. Haas had great taste in cars. Having an old Toyota truck around can be explained, but a Hummer H2?
It's funny that he says he has three "of them", and then goes on to list four cars. Here's the thinking process I imagine: "Oh yes, well... almost forgot about the Ferrari, which I also have. I guess that makes four cars, doesn't it?". Sounds like bullsh*t, but probably isn't. It's a good laugh.
Maybe he should stick to bragging about his milling machines and lathes.

Geez Juddz, You are so critical sometimes! He DID brag about the machines, it was a few pages of an interview, just didn't think I had to tell about the other stuff! I think the H2 thing is just one of those macho toys that some guys had to have when they 1st came out. Around here, as you may notice, there are a lot of affluent soccer moms driving the smaller Hummers, so I am not sure how macho they are anymore.
I run a distributorship that markets Haas Machine Tools and have met Gene Haas on several occasions. Gene is a great guy, loves racing and cars...two years ago he started Haas Racing, building cars for NASCAR teams (Netzero), races go carts, Baja racing, etc...it wouldn't surprise me at all that he would forget a car or two that he owns, including the Ferrari!
