Good news...Bad news
Spoke with the ISG rep again this morning...I am done dealing with Windward Dodge (Dealer that I bought my X-Fire from)! ISG sent them the dealer packet on Thursday, and they haven't done squat! Not only that, but the vehicle that I "picked out" is still on the for sale line; meaning that it could have been sold this weekend. I am done with them. The other dealer said they will pull the vehicle from the line up for me.
So...my options are
1) order an 06 X-Fire roadster and ride my Harley for a couple of months til it gets here, or
2) take delivery of the Jeep Rubicon they have in stock and negotiate an "at dealer cost" for the soft top that I want, or
3) look at their known inbound manifest (no X-fires) and pick a vehicle from their.
Decisions, Decisions, Decisions.
I love my X-Fire, and strongly considering just ordering one.
Thoughts??

Say you didn't have any experience with the xf and were just in the market for a new ride. Would you still pick the XF out of all of your choices now? If you would then I would say wait and order the one you want.
Jess, you are really stuck between a rock and a hard place. On one hand do you go with your passion and take another chance on a new Crossfire, or do you play it safe, make a compromise and go with the Jeep. (Something you can live with, but not really what you wanted)
I would have to say that the "odds" are in your favor that you will get a good Crossfire this time, but who knows, you could even wind up with a lemon Jeep. It's a crap shoot everytime you buy anything.
Personally, I'm not so forgiving, if a car bites me on the asp once too often, I cut it loose. (Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me) but then I've never had a car that I was fanatical about give me any real problems, so who knows, I might make an exception.
I've been known to keep a car a very, very long time if it punches all the right buttons for me, and the Crossfire seems to do just that. If for some reason I had to let it go, I know I would miss it alot.
If you go with what gives you the most satisfaction, then that's what you should do. Because a compromise will only go so far towards fulfilling your real dream, and it will almost always wind up leaving you "wanting" in the end.

I have been told 6 months for a crossfire. The 6 speed Rubicon that I wanted is gone, so I took a Silver automatic Rubicon.
Mike, you are right. I sold my GLI for the crossfire and have regretted it since december when all the big problems started. It seems like whenever I say "maybe on more chance" this thing kicks me square in the tookus. My wife and I have a jeep once before for 14 years, and had no problems out of it (til my wife ignore the temperature gauge). I bought Chris an Xterra, and to this day she misses the Jeep.
This may be our opportunity to make things right. Things happen for a reason. Chris wanted a Jeep back, we will have one in the driveway by Friday (hopefully). I wanted a 6 cylinder jeep with 44 lockers, lift, etc...now we have it. I am off to Iraq in August, and will probably buy a Corvette (Z06) through AAFES or maybe even buy an M3 convertible (another dream car of mine).
Best case scenario is that the Jeep gets stolen (SOON), and I can buy that SRT-6 Roadster from NY for 38.5.
thanks everyone,
~ Jess

order the new crossfire...!!! after all '06 might be the last production year!!!
and as i mentioned last week... the chances of you getting 2 XF duds are very slim... hmmm maybe not...lol
but if it was me, its the XF all over again do or die!!! you didn't have her long enough... the XF retired before your retirement gift was fully enjoyed.

Hi Jess,
greetings from germany and you know what i would advise you to do. the xf roadster is our choice and despite i'm also driving a 4.0 HO wrangler, these are two different ways of driving. the jeep is fun, i own it for 5 years now and it's a very reliable car, no question about it. but driving sporty and "topless" are strengths of a sports car - and the wrangler isn't sporty at all. when you have the opportunity to buy a Z06, do it. i think, this is the best deal available on the market, but the xf is only half the price of a vette, so ask your purse.
Bye

Well,
I did it. I picked up my '06 Rubicon Limited today, and without 24 miles on the clock. I already disassembled the front and put on a new bumper and am fabbing a diamond plate spacer...I love the availability of aftermarket stuff, and I am hooked. The 4" lift is ordered and will be here Monday, so I will be busy! Next is exhaust, intake, rock sliders, etc. I am going to hate this truck later I am sure!

Thanks Andrew. I will miss the crossfire for sure, but will not miss the reliability (or lack thereof). I will be in a 2 seater again though I am sure!
Thanks to everyone for your support, camaraderie, and friendship!
