Default What mileage did you do it?

What mileage did you first change your oil? Just curious if there are any opinions out there.

first time was at 2K, then every 5K after that --

i only did it at 2K because i bought the car as a "demo" with 1,700 miles on it. i probably would have done it at 1,000 had i owned it when it hit that mark. but there's been posts on here to wait until at least 3K so that the factory additives have a chance to fully get into the engine and do their thing. 2,500 would be a good compromise i guess.

On my original Crossfire, I changed it at about 1,500 miles and I cut apart the old oil filter to see what was in it...

YIKES!!! ...there was a lot of metal in it! Lots and lots of little tiny pieces. Sure, that is what the oil filter is for, but I will always change the oil and filter in a new car in just a few hundred miles for now on based on my experience.

I would post my pic of it if the darn forum worked right...

1,000 mi, then every 3 after that. In California, I do a lot of start and stop driving. And a lot of hard accelerations whenever possible!
