Default Hand-made engine: What does that mean?

I've heard the phrase "hand-made engine" used in this forum with respect to the SRT. What does that really mean? Does it truly make the engine better? Any more durable or reliable?

Just wondering.

Thanks,

Rick

The SRT6 engines are assembled by had along with the AMG engines for various MB models. These are the premium ultra high performance models.

The assumption is that time is taken to ensure a well built engine that matches specifications and will perform at the highest levels.

I can't say whether this is true or not, but it sure sounds good!

I thought some of you guys might like to see this video.
Go to the AMG site: http://www.mbusa.com/mercedes-amg.do

Select the Enter AMG site button
Press the start button (probably in English)
Enjoy the intro video and getting passed by the CLK GTR.
Select the Engine Room tab at the top of the screen and hit "assembly".
When the next screen comes up, do the guided tour.

You'll hate these guys. Their engine building life is far too simple.

Enter the AMG site. When you get the main AMG screen, select Engine Room. Check out the video of the guys building an engine. It's the supercharged 5.4 motor but lop off two cylinders and you've got our engine.

AMG engines are legendary for their performance and quality. These are hand built by experienced experts at the AMG facility. One expert make one engine. No one else works on that particular engine. Some of the finest MB cars have AMG engines in them and they come along with a huge price tag too.

Maybe The Engines Are Top-rated, But Check The ''SRT Performance'' Threads For Some Questionable Happenings With The Supercharger That They Use With This Engine...jimboo
