SRT6 Spring replacement
Hello,
I purchased a set of Eibach springs to lower my '04 crossfire and never installed them. I have subsequently purchased a '05 SRT roadster and have been reading that the springs and suspension is different on that model. However, the Eibach site lists the same springs for both SRT and non SRT models.
Has any one replaced their springs with Eibach's? Any comments? Good? Bad?

I suggest you search the SRT-6 forum for "lowering" and you'll get some info.

Overall though, the lowered look is much better and the biggest benefit, the car is as advertised "rides like it's on rails."
Got Goodyear F1's right now but will switch back to PS2's then i'll be happy.

You will need to remove uninstall then re-install everything (ie. shocks and springs) each time you want to adjust the height of the ride. So much for the adjustability feature.

C - This is the dust cover that sits over the shock and bump pad - the top rests where the arrow points to (the washer was added for visual, it's actually located in the trunk between the car body and nut)
The top rubber piece you see on the dust cover (C) is inside the wheel well pressed to the top, the threated part of the shock is what protrudes into the trunk to be secured.
You will need to trim "A" regardless of how you lower your Crossfire, spring trim, eibach's etc.. or every time you go over a bump, your shock will compress and will bottom on the bumper (A).
The distance between the top of (A) and the point (C) is how much shock travel you have with the shock dissasembled, when mounted in your stock Crossfire, the travel will be less (as the shock compresses) - once you lower your ride - you can see that the shock travel distants becomes even less. Mine had about a 1/4 of an inch of travel after timming the srpings and before trimming the bump. Once I trimmed the bump pad and gained more shock travel; problem solved.
No more was I done adding this post when a picture that Andrew took of if his shock showing the bump trim showed up on the main menu feature photos - (we all know how low he went) look thru his gallery to find.

You can check my post about the "whats the camber angle" to get more data. I have done a lot of work to get my srt-6 to sit correctly and had to reshim my front springs. The fronts have been off several times so that I could add 1/8" spacers at the top of the spring assembly. It has taken two spacers or a total of 1/4" shims with heavy rubber fiber matting to get up enought height to suit me. I dont want any rubbing and will be autocrossing so I demand a lot, to get it right.
Thanks to Brian's comments I can pull the fronts off in 20 minutes each and add or delete a shim. I shimmed it as I did not know what was going to clear the stock tires in heavy corners. My rim to fender spacing is now 3 3/4" all around which seems correct now. See Brian's posts. The stock eibach are too low in the front and too high in the back so I was getting comfy under my car for a while to get it all figured out. You can see the gallery for more of my photos by clicking on the image of my crossfire engine to get you there easily. Hope this is of interest, let me know.
By the way if you measure from the rim to the fender lip you remove all the errors introduced by the tires, pavement or the inflated height of the tires. It is a really solid way to evaluate the tire height / spacing.

This might come as a shock but a forum buddy of mine(ill keep him annonymous) just did the Eibachs on his car Friday and already hates them. He will be switching back asap. He said the car sways more in the turns, dives more under braking, and i personally saw the rear about 2 inches higher than the front.
Just something to consider, but if you decide to go with the Eibachs good luck.

Wow, the last post is different from my experience, I have had to cut the rears because they were 1/2 turn too high. I put them in after canvasing several members and getting a positive POLL result. They were a gift as I dont care about height, only handling for autrocross / street but the overall is good, and I will retain the old factory springs if something turns around.
