Default High pitched electronic tone

I have a 2005 SRT-6 roadster. Sometimes when I'm driving, I hear a high-pitched electronic tone that sounds like it's coming from somewhere behind the dashboard. It comes and it goes. Shutting off the radio makes no difference. I only hear it with the engine on. If I turn off the engine and turn on the accessories, I don't hear it.

Any ideas?

Really? I can hear it even when then car is standing still. Is it supposed to sound electronic? It's not really a WHAAAAAA sound. It's a piercing EEEEEE.

Oh!!! well thats simple, there's a cat getting rapped under the hood of your car. Just pop the hood and tell him to get out.

OK. I just think it's odd that the supercharger makes a high-pitched electronic-sounding noise even when the car is standing still or going at moderate
(~ 25 mph) speeds.

We really aren't taking this guys problem seriously. I just realized that...

I'm sure My theory on the cat getting raped under his hood or Dr. Z theory is not the problem. They are very good theories though...

I hope it's a normal noise but it is piercing and rather annoying.

I've figured out that the tone is coming from the driver's side door speakers. They don't always make the noise and I haven't figured out the pattern but when it starts, the volume in those speakers drops considerably. If I turn the balance all the way to the right, the radio is barely audible. The tone stays about the same.

What do you think? Bad speakers or bad wiring?

I took the SRT-6 to the dealer today. Of course, the speakers were perfectly behaved, tested OK, and the techs said there was nothing they could do if they couldn't reproduce the problem. Even worse, they put 23 miles on the car driving around trying to get the speakers to squeal (took it in with 990, got it back with 1,013). So, I guess I'm stuck waiting for something to fail. I'll continue looking for patterns though I haven't found any yet. Until something changes, I'm stumped.
