What's wrong with it? Why don't they sell?
I am looking at a SRT6 convert. and wondering why they do not meet the reserves on Ebay.
I love the car but have doubts.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Good questions! What's wrong with it? Nothing, its a fantastic car and, imho, the SRT-6 is probably the best buy dollar for dollar on the market today. Why don't they sell? Originally - the SRT-6 was too expensive for a two-seater with the Chrysler brand name. If the car had carried the Mercedes label, as a hybrid cross between a SL chassis and an SLK32 power plant, with a rag top, it might have sold big time.
Over the years my wife and I have owned lots of convertibles - everything from an Austin-Healey Mark III 3000, to a Buick Reatta, to a MB SL500, a MB SLK320, and a Chevy SSR. The Crossfire is the tops!
Buy it - you'll like it!

They didn't sell because people that never drove them decided they don't have enough horsepower and look different. These people publish magazines and the public is fickle and can't make a decision themselves.
Also Chrysler completely screwed up the advertising for this car.

Honestly,
Look around at the size of most grown Americans.
Crossfire is a 94.5 inch wheelbase car. An awful lot of Americans are just too big/tall/FAT to fit into these little cars. Seriously, something like 60% of the adults in the USA are overweight. A large portion are technically obese.
Why do you think so many people drive around in school bus sized SUVs ?
The Crossfire is a delightful little sports car.
But it's just too small for a lot of US drivers.
The original 2001 Crossfire concept car had a 105 inch wheelbase. When Karmann/DCX adapted it for the SLK platform it was shrunken down to fit.
I'm 6'4", and it's a mighty tight fit. I wear a flat-top haircut and have to see my barber often otherwise I'll rub on the headliner ! I don't care, I love it anyway...
Cheers,
Slim

I didn't buy one initially because I thought the car cost more then it was worth, so I never even drove one. When I returned from Iraq and started researching for a new car, I noticed the lower then expected price. I went to a dealer and drove the standard and SRT-6, I must say that I was impressed although the car was not as quick as I thought it would be. I decided on the SRT-6 but the dealer would not work a reasonable price compared to what I had seen on the internet. I bought my car this week for $1,500 less then the lowest the dealer would go and couldn't be happier. I think that the glut of available cars is pushing the price down now and will likely go lower then I paid, but it won't last long and then the price will pop back up again.
1. DC did an awful job marketing the car. They should have been fired a long time ago.
2. It was too expensive (for the Chrysler brand) when it came out.
3. People did not know it was a MB underneath it all.
The car, although it is based on the previous generation SL32, it is great. Reliable technology and fun to drive. You don't see many of them on the road. Buy it!
