Default plasticky interior

am i the only one that goes crazy over this? the interior (primarily the doors and hatch area) rattle, creak, make noises like they are made out of fisher-price plastic. any time it goes over bumps and when it is hot out it gets worse. very disappointed by the quality.

Don't have any problems with mine, the only noise I hear is the exhaust.

Yes, i know what you are saying...I have rattles and such that are very annoying! One over my left shoulder where the seatbelt is and the other is on the passenger side door somewhere...I do like the interior overall though.

Ditto, maybe because the Roadster doesn't have as much plastic.

Vladie, I know exactly what you mean... I have a roadster and I enjoy bass with my music. It does rattle quite a bit, and even when the music is not on speed bumps and such will cause a slight rattle...anyone know anything about insulation for the doors such as Dynamat?

The only noise i get is over my left shoulder, sounds like its coming from where the seatbelt rolls into.

Ditto for me too (and the CAI when accelerating)!

IMO - The interior does have a little too much plastic. Everything is hard as a rock too.
Mine doesn't rattle or creak though.

the creaks, squeaks & rattles in the door panels took a toll on me...especially when the stereo was on.

i added dynamat as needed on the inside of the door behind the panel on all the contact areas. i also removed the door speaker and insulated/dynamated behind the speaker.

the doors now feel much more solid and now are creak, squeak & rattle free... for the time being.

just 2 days ago... i dynamat'd the seat belt trim piece behind my shoulder... creaks are not gone.

i think you guys don't get the rattles and stuff because the shocks and springs on the ltd's are not as stiff as on the SRT's. the SRTs ride VERY rough !

not by much. the plastic on the doors is HORRIBLE quality for a car like this ! chrysler should be ashamed. my opinions may be biased because i have the srt6 which rides much rougher (imagine every bump, crack or pothole in the road causing a plastic explosion inside the car - it would drive you nuts).

Just curious:
Did you test drive the car?
You realize that it is a sports car, and they typically creak/rattle, etc.
Ever been in a Corvette? You can almost see the seams (interior) separate when you push it around curves, going over bumps, etc.

No intent to offend/razz, just wondering.

of course. sports cars are all that i have owned (20 years of driving). i have had many mustangs, camaros, and even a corvette and they all rattled horribly. i guess either i'm getting older and the things that never bothered me as much before are now getting to me or i was just expecting too much (have a Porsche Boxster S that has next to no rattles or creaks despite being a conv). overall, i think the car is ok though.

I don't think the interior of the XF is cheap plastic at all compared to some other cars. Our door panels and dash are made very well. The doors covers are a bit padded. The only hard plastic is the lower part of the dash, console and the trim behind the seat that's not carpeted. And, as hard plastic goes it seems like pretty good quality. Have you rented a Dodge, GM, or Ford lately? Now that is cheap plastic.

I'd hope so, you are comparing a 20K rent a car with a 45K sports car. I too am disappointed with the interior trim on the Crossfire. Nothing a weekend and some Lizard skin and Dynamat won't fix, but having to do this in a 45K car is a bit distressing. Oh and my last car was a C5 ZO6, and the interior IMHO was nicer than the Crossfire, and had no rattles or squeaks even after 75,000 rough miles.

Actually with 0-mile 05's going for the low 20s, They really aren't 45k cars anymore. And using the new price point they are an amazing bargain. And the build quality is just fine for me. I'm a happy camper for now. Love this car.

And Jeremy Clarkson is still an idiot.
