Default Extended Warrenty

Imagine my surprise when I got a letter in the mail today thanking me for my new/used purchase. Along with the letter came a card extending the warrenty out to 8 years or 80,000 miles. All you '05 SRT6 purchasers keep a look out or ask your dealer for the same.

Sounds like somebody paid for a Chrysler MaxiCare Warranty. Have you looked at your bill of sale to see if it was on there? The cost for this warranty is around $1,600 direct from the Chrysler dealer. I've never heard of them giving it away for free. They do not "bury" the cost in the cost of the car itself - it shows up with its own code and cost.

Being new to the forum and a new owner, please allow me at least one dumb question. Was the warranty that was extended, the 3 year / 36,000 mile bumper to bumper or the longer limited powertrain one?

Mine had 3/36 and got bumped to 8/80. No extra money. was not part of the deal.

There are two different 8/80 Chrysler warranties available.
The Certified Pre-Owned 8/80 Powertrain Warranty, which comes with all CPO cars.
Also
The Maximum Care 8/80 available for cars that already have the CPO 8/80 Powertain Warranty. The Maximum Care is defined as thus:
This plan extends your vehicle's powertrain and basic component coverage beyond the 3-year/36,000-mile manufacturers warranty and covers 5007+ components - providing virtually complete mechanical coverage for your vehicle
The Maximum Care is available in a bunch of different term lengths, but on CPO cars it only comes as an 8/80 or 8/100. Maximum Care is a bit cheaper on CPO cars since a portion of the warranty cost will be born by the underlying CPO powertrain warranty.
