Just curious about how many SRT6 owners out there are more or less storing their cars due to the low numbers of production. This is not my daily driver; though, I find myself driving it daily in the summer. It will sit in the garage all winter though. I currently have 11k miles on it, and will continue to drive it.

How many of you only drive your cars on weekends?

How many of you drive them more than 3 times per week?

 

my work "weekends" don't always line up with a calendar weekend. i rarely drive my SRT to work. when i'm off...depends on the weather. come the end of October, it's gonna stay in the garage.

i had an oil change two weeks ago and i've only put 600 miles on the car since then.

 

I'm one of them.
Wanted something newer, good deal, low production numbers, rare, unique, powerful, convertible, etc.
Bought it around 1/1/2007 w/3,500 miles on it.
Just turned 5,000 this week (drove it to work twice).
So in 7 months I've put 1,500 miles on it which is ~ 215 miles/month.

It will be stored every year from October 1st to May 1st. It is essentially a warm weather weekend car.

I drive it to work when there is essentially no chance of rain (between May 1 and September 30 - respectively).

I do not anticipate putting more than 1,000 miles/year on the car. This year I'm marking as an exception since it was our first year with the car and going through our first Michigan winter (needed that convertible after the cold left).

 

F-that!... i'm driving it like i stole it... if i need one, i'll just buy another one, buy then i'm sure they will be going for sub $20k in like new condition...

 

I drive it every day. Bought mine in December '06 with ±9,500 miles now she's got 18,500. I tend to lose interest in the vehicles I don't drive. Such is the case with my Fairlane. I drove the wheels off of that one too when it was my daily driver.

 

I live in texas. We do not have bad weather or salted roads. Come on down. Hope this helps.

I used to live in Corpus Christi, TX. My Brother lives in Houston. I'm originally from Phoenix, AZ, so I welcome the cold weather except for the fact that I can only drive the car and bike half the year.

I do about 5,000 miles per year.

 

Maybe a better question would be how many of us intended this to be a weekend car? Mine was to be, and I would drive my Spirit during the week. However, I live in a townhouse complex and have to park one car behind the other, and it got to be too much of a hassle to switch cars for the weekend. So I then planned on driving one car for a couple of months or so then switch. But after 2 days with the Spirit I was about ready to scream and could only hold out for a month tops. If my Crossfire hadn't spent so much time at the dealers I doubt I would have driven the Spirit even that much. Now I'm to the point where I drive the Crossfire everyday and the Spirit sits abandoned at work, poor baby.

As some poster pointed out on another forum, why spend thousands on a car and then let it sit undriven?

 

It is certainly a "toy" to me. As a typical married guy with 2 kids - it couldn't be much else. I have a company car that I drive to work, so yes, not driven much but at least every week and will be driven in the winter (in Ohio), so I'm not babying it by any means, but not driving it much either. I, like other posters have said, bought it to enjoy it and don't have the patience or room to hold a car to increase in value or have the time or storage capability...plus the collectability of it is always a gamble anyway.

 

I have put about 9k miles in 11 months. I drive my other car half the time. I do a total of 500 miles/week. During winter the SRT6 does get driven as much. I bought the car to enjoy it. Don't see any point in letting it sit.

 

I've put 900 miles on mine in the two weeks I've owned it. I've taken it to the drag strip, and two small "roadtrips". Yes it's my daily driver, and no I don't plan on keeping it a museum piece. I'll probably put about 14,000 miles a year on it.

 

So far in the first year I have put about 5k miles on the car... I drive it daily, but avoid rainy, snowy, or salted days...

 

I had an '04 regular coupe leased when I bought the SRT6 in Oct. '06, so the coupe was my daily driver, rain, snow or shine. In Feb. I bought a 4X4 GMC Sierra regular cab short bed to use as a daily driver for when the coupe went back. The truck already has 5,500 miles on it and the SRT6 just rolled over 2,000, I'm sure I've spent more time doing mod's to it than I have driving it. I would have to say mine is just a fast little toy that my wife hates, she does not like riding in it at all because the passenger seat does not raise up or there would be a few more miles on it. She don't mind driving it.

 

I bought the SRT-6 as a sunny summer day toy. It only gets driven on weekends because I ride the bus to work. I bought it in February '07 with 322 miles on it and it's now up to 880. Come late October or early November, it will go in storage and I'll drive the coupe exclusively until April or May.

I want to keep the miles low on the SRT-6 so I can enjoy this car for a long, long time.
