Default After Market Navigation/CD/Ipod Player

I'm new to this forum so just want to say What's up to everybody. I'm getting my Crossfire SRT-6 tomorrow and I can't wait. The only thing I hate about the car is the stereo system so I'm taking it out. Does anyone have any recommendations as far as after market radios that look good in a Crossfire. I really wanted to put in the Pioneer AVIC- D3 but its a double din. Do they make a double din kit for the Crossfire to fit this beauty in there. If not any recommendations on any radios that will look good? I really want a Navigation/CD/Ipod player! LOL! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I doubt it. There's not much room.
Wish I could advise on a new unit, I'm pretty happy w/the factory system w/NAV.
Good luck and welcome to the forum.

You will love the SRT, I do everytime my wife lets me drive hers.
On the radio watch out for problems with the display being washed out!
Last spring we had a Crossfire Roaster that we traded for the SRT. I installed a really nice Pioneer radio (paid $600 for it) sounded great. BUT...put the top down and you needed to work the controls by guess only. The display just disappeared in the sun, even on bright days with the top up at certain angles you last the display.
Apparently that's a common problem with radio now, because most have a blue display??
Have fun with you new ride though.

Eclipse makes decks that are single DIN with capabilities for navigation, I don't have personal experience but i've heard they're good.

I'm leaning towards the new JVC KDNX5000 which is single DIN.

I just got my SRT6 about 3 weeks ago and love the sound system. I'm pretty sure it's what everybody else has. The infiniti with nav. I used to install systems way back, and with the subs that are behind the seat, it's equivalent to a pair of 8" subs in a fourth order box, pushing at least 75w a channel from a good quality amp. Not talking the cheap stuff that says 1000w on the box. Like an old Rockford Fosgate that was still made in the USA. Now it's not high end either, but pretty darn good for a factory system in such close quarters. It wouldn't be hard to bypass the factory amps and install a clean amp with lower distortion, but it would mean tearing apart your new car. I've torn apart a many new cars to put in alarms, but I have no intention of diving into mine. I want to add remote start, but am reluctant to tear into the wiring. I guess that's another topic all together. I'll post a new one.
If you go into the Gallery section you will see a sweet custom setup that someone posted showing a double din, with the controls beneath the radio moved to the center console. It's so clean you don't even think about the wiring that was involved, never mind the awesome fabrication. If any of you know who this was, send them my props.

Love my SRT6,
Cruzinquick

Now that is a nice looking unit. I do believe fflores had this one in his srt6 and it looked like it fit great.

I did have that unit... infact i left it in the car when i traded it in... I like it a lot... all the features worked well, but some of the options were hard to find sometimes. But overall, for the price, its a really good buy!

Here's 10 Megapixel super high resolution pictures taken of my installation. Navigation, bluetooth, and Sirius all installed successfully. I like the navigation much more than my TomTom.

It was definitely a good investment. I would recommend it to anyone with only a single din slot.

Please post photos of your Dynamat project. Do you plan to Dynamat the entire trunk area, or just selected pieces?

How much does the nav/radio factory unit cost? My 2004 radio just took a hike. Actually, the radio works fine but the cd player is toast. Thanks in advance

Thanks, that looks like a good price on the factory unit. Next question...Is there another type of CD/radio stereo that would fit in a 2004? I have been looking but found only units that are around $1,200. Way too much. There's got to be a realistic alternative I'm not real pleased with the sound of the factory issue, but if thats what I have to go with then I will. No longer under warrenty so I can't just have it replaced. Thanks..........Martin/mtnsong
