Default Avoiding "voiding" the warranty

With so many of you having done performance enhancements, I was wondering what you all have found can be done without the "Warranty Gestapos" getting alarmed?

I just purchased my SRT6 from a dealer a few weeks ago with the full factory warranty and would like to keep it's integrity at least for a good break-in period. Is this set-in-stone or does it depend on your relationship with your local dealer/crossfire tech?

I'm not planning on taking her to the track but I would like to get a little more of that "Oh My God!!" from the passenger seat when I let her loose

I have been doing a lot of reading here and there is sure a lot of good info and ideas. My kudos to all of you .

Here's what I'm targeting for as a final goal, subject to change of course

-Air flow seems to be #1 and I'm leaning towards the SL55 atm. Mainly for the "factory look" as well as the ability to retain the use of the engine cover. If I'm stuck with just a change to K&N Filters for now then so be it.
-S/C pulley this one's a warranty voider I'm sure
-ECU Tune most probably here too
-Sprint Booster

Well, that's a start. If there are any suggestions for things that I can do in the interim they'd be greatly appriciated also.

I really love this car and so far the best thing I've done for it is finding this site!!!!

Thanks in advance for your time

Steve

I have no clue, all my mods are bolt on. So if I throw a rod through the side of the block, all the stock components are going back in. Then it goes back to the dealer. lol I don't know what the cost of one of these motors are, but it has to be pretty expesive.

If you have decent mechanical know how you can add some serious power and swap back stock in a days work.

Upgraded pulley, CAI, h/e and exhaust are all mods you could swap back easily. And it represents about 50+ rwhp.

I'm in the same boat. I have til 70K on my bumper to bumper. I know I'll hit 70 pretty quick with the way I drive so I don't think that much will break before then unless it's something odd.

I'm changing out my HE and pump so I doubt they'll know it's upgraded unless they take off the bumper and even still I don't think it's a warranty voider. Also, I'm pretty sure Chrysler is a little different than the other auto companys on the warranty. I think whatever you decide to change or modify, if it breaks, they won't replace. So if you do something to your engine, in essence, your engine is voided but not something in the suspension or in the interior.

Ford will take it all away if they see anything AM but from what I read in my Service Contract, it's specific parts not everything for Chrysler warranties

I have a full warranty through to July of 2013 or 62,000 miles, whichever comes first (most likely 2013) and am not mechanical whatsoever. I don't believe that the Needswings CAI voids the warranty, but I am asking about it just to confirm. The SLK55 variant may not void it either. Most ECU tunes shouldn't be detectable, so that's probably safe. All of the other stuff I want to do is cosmetic. I really don't need this car to be much faster

My in-service date was Feb 2007 - since I seem to be putting around 9K miles a year - my factory warranty will be good until Feb 2010 (I even saw it on the computer at the dealer)

The service manager at the dealership I go to has seen all my mods and has no problems. (They even like the "bling") Obviously they won't replace or repair any of the aftermarket parts and if my SC goes, they might not repair it "IF" the car came in with the 185 pulley - so I might have to pony up $1,500 for a SC overhaul - or swap pulley's and add a little "grease" - but if the engine sucked a valve, blew a head gasket or threw a timing chain - they would fix it..

Waldig, the clock just started on my warranty

PhillySRT, but the speedo goes to 200...

240MESRT, very true, and those 50 extra are about what I'm shooting for

BrianBrave, I've got a pretty good relationship going with my dealership so I'm hoping for the same

Yeah, the CAI would seem to be pretty safe and from what I've read here it's the best, if not the place to start. Not much sense in doing any of the others without it.

Thanks for the replies so far.

Steve

Just remember, SRT's only have 3/36 not 7/70.. For those that don't know. Extended warranty is the way to go.

My in-service date was Feb. 26, 2007, and I bought it certified to get warranty until Feb 26, 2015. Edited: I put 2014 first time instead of 2015

I have a good relationship with my dealership, so I'm not worried about a needswings intake or other minor modifications voiding my warranty.

My dealer saw my NeedsWings CAI and asked if I race the car. Since I don't I answered no and the dealer did not seem to have a problem with the CAI.

Just extended the warranty, goes through 2012...I will never get enough miles to run out warranty. I have a CAI Needs, sprint booster and an excellent relationship with my service manager, where he goes, I go...so I shouldn't have any problems until 2012, then I have had better learned everything I can on here...

Don't sweat the Code3 supercharger pulley either. It is very hard to visually tell the difference between the two pullies, unless you really know what you're looking for. With only 3000 of these cars ever made, I doubt most mechanics would recognize the difference. Even side-by-side, the only way to tell is the larger diameter, which isn't THAT obvious, it's only a couple mm's anyway.

Woody, don't forget that a number of recent SRT-6 owners bought their 2005 cars "new" last year. My inservice date on my 2005 SRT-6 is July 2007.
