K&N Install - did you use the seals?
The K&N Filters come with a square seal that goes between the airbox lid and the airbox.
Did you all use these? They seem to make the lid sit too high and seem to almost make the lid seat incorrectly.
Thought I'd ask!
Thanks,
Shawn

Mine fit with no issues. Are you absolutely sure that you have the lid seated correctly? There's a lot tabs and locking screws that can make it not want to go back on.
It snugs down just fine and seals alright - but, with the seal on it, the lid cover just seems to sit up higher prior to tightening it down.
It just seems like they are not necessary (although I did install them and am confident in the seal as well as my installation).
I assume the original filter's built-in gasket is a little larger than the K&N, thus the need for the new seals.
The installation is 99% fool-proof, not much you can mess up...Just thought I'd ask if anyone knew why K&N felt they were required.

I installed K&N's on my Roadster just yesterday, and noticed immediately the quality of construction.
Holding the pleats apart mechanically seems a no-brainer to me. The Mann filters (OEM) had more surface area to offer for filtration, but they would need it considering the number of compressed/collapsed pleats. I would wager that under high flow/pressure this would be exacerbated since the unrestrained "peaks" of the pleats face the airflow and not the "troughs". Any other engineers out there?

Pale,
Click the link in my signature next to K&N Filters. Although that part # is for the SRT6 model, you can find your K&N filters on that site. The part # you need is #33-2290
They are $28.50/each (you need two) for your car.
Take care!

I know what you mean. I too found the seals a little on the large side, if you know what I mean. I gradually went round all the screws 2 or 3 times to gradually clamp them fully "home". I thought the "tabs" would snap if I screwed them tight down first time.
