SRT-6 vs. Corvette Poll
If you ran up against one, please tell the results, and conditions. Was it from a dead stop, roll on, highway? Also wondering what kind of Vette. C5, C6, Z06? Just wondering how things have went down.
A c6 vette base model puts out 400/400.
A c6 Z06 you have NO chance.
A c5 put out at least 350/350 for the most part.
A c5 Z06 in its prime put out 405 HP.
You might stand a chance against a base model 97 vert automatic C5, the c4's etc...anything else...good luck.

I have a good time beating up older corvettes, (70's) that didn't have big blocks in my normal crossfire. Most of the older corvettes around here have serious carb issues due to the altitude anyway. Gotta love technology. I have played with new corvettes, but well, we all know what happens then, but funny enough all the corvette owners I've met so far just love my crossfire and always wave and are super friendly, but maybe thats because they know they'll always win. Lol.
I gave a presumably stock C5 a pretty good run up to about 85 from a 5 mph punch. I had about a fender on him but I spun a little bit when I took off, and I'm sure he did also. I was pulling away slowly before we got out of it. That was prior to having 1,000 miles on my car, no mods.
It was not an automatic and it was an FRC car. The owner rolled down the window and gave me a thumbs up and yelled 'quick car!' at the next light before he turned right on red.
C4's shouldn't be a problem as long as it isn't a ZR1 or modded, or disguised Lingenfelter or something.

I'm pretty sure even a ZR1 C4 wouldn't be that much of a hassle if it was stock.
Most C5's these things won't touch though...you'd have to get a '97 - '99 C5 vette before they got the better intake manifolds and other little tweaks.
Also automatic vette would be the best bet.

I actually own a 2000 C5 Corvette hardtop with 6-speed manual...I often wonder which one is faster...My corvette is stock as is my SRT-6 vert. Magazine times for both in the 1/4 mile is 13.3 seconds at around 107-108 mph. 0-60 for Vette listed at 4.7 seconds vs. 4.8-4.9 for SRT6.
Overall the Vette feels a bit faster in the seat of the pants category. Hard to compare acceleration in manual car vs. a smooth automatic.
If the Vette is putting out the advertised 345 hp/350 lbs torque and weighs 3,180 pounds vs. 3,320 lbs for my SRT6 vert with auto and less torque, the Vette should be quicker. However in the real world, it would depend on the launch of the 6-speed manual vette...too much wheel spin in the vette and the SRT6 is going to zip in front! The SRT6 is definitely easier to launch.

Vegas,
The amount of loss in the drivetrain may make a difference as well, although a 6spd vette should have less parasitic loss than the auto SRT.
The guy I pulled up against was definitely in a 6spd because my car would take a little more lead each time he shifted.
I'm not sure which year it was though...but definitely a C5, non Z06.
I'm not sure what the actual (non magazine) times are on C5's, but I know there are several folks with the SRT6's into the upper 12's completely stock. One guy was at 12.6 with K&N's and a resonator removal.

Cool dry air and a good track will really help this car. The humidity and air temp are way too high here in San Antonio to help me much, but I plan to run the car while it is mostly stock. Maybe next Wednesday if I can find a helmet.
