ok i looked for a post had 0 results ,

sometimes when i go to start the SRT-6, turn the key to start / run all the way over .
it's like auto start ..

whut's up with that :
1 starter hanging
2 switch where the key goes

anyone had that before

hi guys&gals, its been awhile since i,ve added any input to the forum, since the magna-flow muffler suggestion, i hope everyone is enjoying the sound and looks as much as i,am. anyway,the new topic is about the ignition switch in our car, its smarter than you know! if you would like to prolong the life of your ignition, next time when you start your car, just turn the key to crank the car , than let it go immediately, the ignition will continue to crank until the car starts , all by its self !!! its the coolest thing! try it for yourself. well,bye for now , and take care of your investment, its a lot of car for the money!!!!!!

Read that thread. If you are experiencing the 'hard start', that may be the culprit.

But, YES, if you bump the key it turns over on its own...however, it should fire quickly (not keep cranking).

If it cranks too long, you may have a fuel pump issue. Mine cranks for 7+ seconds sometimes and then just gives up. I then have to re-turn the key to start it again. Embarassing!

Hopefully it is the fuel pump and I can get it fixed.

Yes, the only REAL problem with these cars is the loose nut behind the wheel...

 

Hey Shawn. I have posted about this a few times since I had this problem with my 2001 ML320 which is the same engine as the Crossfire. The most common problem on these engines was the crank posistion sensor. the early warning signs are hard starting or dying as you come to a stop at a traffic light and then hard to start. I have already seen a few of the members on here find out the problem is this sensor. This sensor is not a big deal and very easy to change yourself, but some dealers want over $300 to change a $50 sensor that takes all of 10 minutes to change. I hope your problem is nothing serious but keep this in mind in case the dealer has trouble figuring it out. These sensors don't jsut fail, but rather act up for a few weeks before failing altogether.

No it did not come on at first. If if did I would have had it scanned to find out what was going on. It just seemed like hard starting occationally and died a couple of time when coming to a stop light. It didn't come on until it started dying while driving and not re-starting right away. When you turn on off the ignition as in trying to start it, the CEL will reset and turn off. The tripped code is still saved in the computer. This crappy sensor is liKe a progressive disease. Just an annoyance at first and you don't knwo what is going on.
