Default Ok, finally put it away

Well, as you know, New England got some pretty good snow recently. Well, knowing the storm was on the way, I took the car out for one more spin. It was cold out and the car ran the best it has ever run!! This was the third tank of gas, and there was no hint of previous problems I noticed such as slight knocking and rough idling. The gas that was in there originally was old, about a year! Looks like the injectors and sensors finally got the cleaning they needed along with the gas tank. Just when things were getting good, snow! Oh well, looking forward to Spring!

Mine is sitting out in front of my house covered with the first snow of the season. I would take pics and post them but it would make too many members cry or, maybe worse, I would be accused of XF abuse!

Those tires really suck in the snow ... so I hear. Drove mine to work today ... even though it's not Friday. Gonna be 70 today, almost 80 tomorrow.

I dont mind the snow, it's the three inches of salt that they put down every storm on the streets around here that makes me put the car away for winters!

I still find my self asking that same question. I'm from Phoenix Arizona. The rest of my family is from San Francisco. Been here for four years now, and still getting used to the snow. Now it's an excuse to keep the miles low.

mine's been covered in the garage for a couple weeks now. once i'm done with my holiday spending i'm thinking of ordering a Car Capsule.

i missed driving my truck. it's kind of been sitting there for a couple months, i took it out a couple times this week and remembered how much i like driving it.

It's the white stuff on the ground that you see on TV just before you change the channel!

I would have said it's the white stuff you see on the top of the mountains in the distance, but I don't think you can see them through the haze in CA and the biggest hill I see is the overpass to I-75 from the turnpike.

Living in north central Texas must be tough. If you lived down here in SE Texas you could drive it to work everyday.

Mine would be out there too but I chose to kick my truck out and give the Crossfire the TLC it deserves. It is now resting comfortably in a 60 degree heated attached garage. It still goes out when the roads are dry though as I will not store it away for months.

Has no one jacked it off the ground to prevent flatspotting the tires...

I cannot jack mine, but heard that if you park all four wheels on a couple of thickenesses of carpeting this should prevent flatspotting.

I changed oil, filled tank (to prevent mositure and fuel line corrosion) and added Sta-Bil additive, this prevent fuel breakdown when extended storage or more than 2 months.

I have mine parked with the tires parked on 2" thick polyethylene foam pads. Just placed them behind the wheels and drove up onto them.

I sure hope it is a short winter for ALL of us Northern folk...

This will be the last northern winter for me for a while... Gettin' transferred soon, probably to VA or further south. I like the cold winters though. i grew up in Hot-as-Hell Phoenix. We had two seasons: Warm and Hot! Nothing like cooking holiday turkeys in a 100 degree kitchen and going outside to "cool off" in the 80 degree cold.

Thanks Valkryderguy great idea, bought some 2' X 2' heavy duty anti fatigue mats you buy a home improvement centres and will put thick left over carpeting on top of them.

The beast will almost like being on a cloud of Jello... Think it might just work.

I know that mine was parked for over a year and there is no tire flat spot issue, how long does it take for this problem to occur?

The owners manual recommends putting carpet on plywood same size as tires, in olden time you had to jack car off ground to lift tires so they do not contact surface, at $450 each tire, not taking any chances.
