My intake setup
Thanks for the praise. The Needswings setup is very nice and proven performance. I just figured I could save myself some money and take pride in making something myself. Also I don't like K&N filters and the oil, I prefer the AEM dryflow. I wish I could get my hands on a 3" bender and further enhance the design, but I just did the best with what I had. It's still not fully finished and I have wasted some money on the wrong parts, but I think it will be worth it in the end. I didn't do this to make money and have listed most of the parts and where to get them if anyone wanted to follow in my footsteps.

got the pipes back from the powdercoat shop. Still waiting on my rubber 90, should be here by Friday. Also gotta JB weld the vent tube(forgive me). Picked up some 5/8 heater hose for that to connect to. Hopefully I'll have it all together by friday night and able to test it out.
very nice looking finished intake, Hurry up and throw down some pictures I ca'nt wait to see hot it looks finished. Second Looks like the air box might clear on the left side???
Screw Jegs! They told me my elbow would be here this week. Called today and they said next week!
So I happened to be in Autozone today, found out they carried Spectre, and they were able to order me one. Will be here tomorow, so I can finally put this thing together and drive my car with new found powa.

Just a thought.....why not take the tubing to a muffler shop and see if they'll just weld it on.......much better than JB weld. Better yet....look in the yellow pages for a welding/fabrication shop in the area.....then offer a guy 20 bucks or so to TIG it on for you.
I only say this because I work as a weld consultant.......my company just did a comprehensive test for the Auto Steel Partnership........to make a long story short......JB Weld failed miserably in all areas, especially in vibration/fatigue!
too late, but yes your right I should have had someone weld it for me. I just didn't have the time and growing impatient since I haven't driven my car in a couple weeks. Guess I'll see how the JB holds up. You won't even be able to see it once the pipe is installed, nor under a lot of stress, so I think it will do.

Well I finally got all my parts and put it together. I drove about 30 miles tonight with a few WOT runs to about 80(didn't want any tickets before Christmas) The car pulls noticeably harder, traction control was going crazy at one point and the shift into second seems harder. I pulled over after a while and popped the hood. The long tube was cold to the touch and the tube near the throttle body was slightly warm on the bottom where it is about an inch from the intake manifold. The sound is very nice, I can hear the whine from inside the car wiith the windows down, but it's not that loud. I'm sure with a pulley it would amplify the supercharger sound very nicely. Overall I am impressed with end result. Once the track re-opens I'll see what she can do.

Nice pics, I must say I'm partial to that paint color. First off you need to turn off that TC. Way more fun without it. Warm up those tires with a small burnout, and hold the brake and rev around 2k rpm. Let her go and roll/floor it. You should be feeling that awesome pull through midrange. Hope you have nice weather to go test your new found power. Enjoy.

looks great think I will order the parts after this weekend thanks for the great write up. Did you try putting the stock air boxes back on? it looks like there is room from the pictures ?

Nah, I am actually thinking about painting the belt cover black and having the intake manifolds powdercoated like the intake, then polishing the SRT-6 letters/#. It will be after the holidays for sure. The powdercoat seems to keep things pretty cool, so maybe it will keep the block from heating up the manifolds as well, plus it will look cool I think.
