Gas Mileage
This will probably sound ridiculous, but what is the gas mileage that you folks with SRT-6s are getting? I presently have a 2004 coupe with 6 speed and commute about 98 miles roundtrip 5-6 days weekly. I have been getting consistently around 30 mpg. I have been interested in the SRT-6 except for the price; however, now that the price has come down tremendously, my interest has increased.

Driven politely on the highway 70 mph about 23mpg, probably more but it is so good I haven't closely measured in sometime. Around town driven politely close to 20mpg (Boston) Driven aggressively on the highway drops to average of almost 20, aggressively around town is about 16. I keep this car because of its ability to get this mileage if need be. Oil is Mobil 1 and car has less than 20K

My 04 coupe got 27 to 29, I really miss that because my daily driver is a 4X4 truck now = 16 to 17. I've never checked my SRT6's milage, but I would guess 18 to 22 dependeing on how it's driven.
When I fill the tank I divide the miles driven by gallons to get an accurate mpg. On the Roadster over three summers and 26k of mostly highway driving, I have reached 31mpg driving at 55-60 but typically drive at 70-80 (with periodic bursts to 90-100) and see 26-28 mpg. One afternoon I followed some bear-bait for 100 miles (for an hour) and still got 26 mpg.
I'm very interested to see what the SRT6 returns for mileage. While I drive fast, I'm not really a leadfoot off the line.

I drive conservatively and get 18-20 mpg with a third/two thirds highway/city mix. The city driving is hard core too because in 10 miles one way to work there are at least 18 stoplights and in San Diego you WILL wait at every light. Conservative highway cruising using 92/93 octane I've gotten 26-28 mpg and maybe a tad more, and this is doing 70-75 mph. With 91 octane I get around 24-25 mpg in So. Cal traffic.
Like another forum member, it seems that my mpg has increased with the Needswings intake but I haven't done any formal calculations yet.

Thanks to all who responded. I still have not made up my mind entirely about trading in my '04 with 6 spd which gets around 30 mpg with 95% freeway driving for a 2005 SRT-6 with 7500 miles that will probably get less than 30 mpg. This would not be a BIG issue were it not for gas prices and the unknown about where prices will plateau off.

My 04 Limited gets 30 MPG on highway and a little less in normal driving. The SRT6 looks like it is around 25 MPG in everyday driving in Oregon. I have only had it a couple of months and have not taken it out enough to really check it.
Averaging between 21 & 26. The mileage always goes down with the temps., though.
Would there be any reason for the SRT6 and the NA under the same conditions to get different gas mileage on the interstate driving a steady 70 mph? I can definitely see a difference with city or aggressive driving. Just curious.
I'm getting 22 average with mine. It is not getting a lot of miles since the weather changed. I think if you run it at a steady speed, especially using cruise control, that you will do better. I'm just outside St Louis in Augusta, so ping me if you want to chat more.
With the SRT6, it's really tempting to goose it, so take that into consideration. Mine is bone stock and it still pins me to the seat under hard acceleration.
Lou Fusz Ford in Chesterfield has an SSB roadster with 20k miles for $21,988. It's worth taking a test drive to see if you want to go for performance or economy.

As previously noted, a big factor in mileage is how often the 6 is romped on - it really is tempting to do so. But for me I find the biggest factors are California drivers and California gas. Take those two ingredients away and my mileage goes from 24 - 25 to 27 - 28 mpg.
I've only checked it once, but somewhere in the low 20's in mixed driving. On the highway in 5th/D the car only turns 2k rpm @ 60.
For most cars, the automatic will cost you 1-2 mpg over a stick. The blower in mixed driving should drop the mpg about the same. The more you're into the boost the more that number will drop. When the car is not on boost, the differences in mpg versus a naturally aspirated automatic crossfire should be negligible. A tiny bit more weight -- a little bit of drag running the S/C belt (but the S/C clutch keeps that down to a minimum).

With my SRT6 Coupe, I regularly get 18 to 20 mpg. This is daily communting in Atlanta meaning I usually can drive about half the time at highway speeds and the other half in slow side street and commuter stop and go on the way home.
BTW, this is calculated mileage dividing number of miles driven by gallons of gas pumped.
