Default Car seems slower, any ideas? Boost Gauge Question as well.

When I bought my SRT-6 I could here the SuperCharger often. Now it seems the car is slower and I don't notice the SC sound as much if ever. It's under warranty and bone stock. Any ideas of what I should ask the dealer when I take it in? Can I take it to a Mercedes dealer under my factory warranty?

Does anyone have an after-market boost gauge and if so, any pics of where you mounted it. What kind, size and so on.

Thanks,
HKP

Could be a failed SC clutch or more than likely a failed IC pump. Unfortunately the IC pump failure is very, very common on this car as well as the SLK AMG. Do a search for IC pump failure on this forum. TONS of threads about it.

There is a long thread on "Sometimes Sluggish Acceleration". That should answer your questions.

If your car has really slowed down, for example when on the freeway and you floor it and the car doesn't accelerate like mad, then it is the intercooler water pump. If your car acts like this then printout several threads from here and MB forums as proof of the problem.

These cars do have a dead zone in the powerband too (40-50mph). So sometimes when you punch it the acceleration is there but just not as fun. Also the ECU is an adaptive one which means if you normally putt around town it remembers that and the next time you floor it the ECU thinks, "Nah he/she doesn't want to go that fast," so it doesn't behave the way you expect it. The throttle reset will cure this problem.

No Mercedes will not honor your warranty.

There are a few guys who have installed gauges, I have yet to install mine since I need my Dad's shop in order to do so. As for the mounting methods there aren't any besides doing something custom. Here is a link to the thread that I started.

I'm going to re-set the ECU again and hope this works. If not she is going in quickly cause I feel the need to waste some fuel.

Did I mention how much I like this forum?

I can almost promise you it's the Intercooler pump. I would bother having a dealer fix that. I would just replace it myself with the Johnson Pump. It flows more and doens' cost much. You can also go to a Ford Dealer and request a pump for a Ford Lightning. They are the same bosch pump aside from the plug, which is easy to change. They cost about $80 from Ford and about $600 from Chrysler...

Do a Search for Johnson Intercooler Pump And Ford Lightning Intercooler Pump. There are how-tos on here with part numbers and such...
