Default Spotted Six - Ever seen this before?

Hey Members,

I bought my Aero Blue SRT-6 Coupe back in July with 50 miles on the odometer after driving another with 6600 miles (with some quirks). The car drives flawlessly, but I noticed these dark blue dye spots on the shock towers and grill sub-frame. I've taken some 3M bug & adhesive remover to see if it comes off, but it doesn't even fade. I don't really care about it, but just curious if anyone else has seen this issue?

Thanks,
John

Looks like some fluid splashed on there and was allowed to dry/sit on long enough to etch itsself into the original paint.

Could it have been acid from the battery? Definitely looks like something splashed on it and etched the paint. Hmmm, interesting.

I think brake fluid would stain the paint like that also.

I have not seen those marks on a Crossfire, but I had them on my Prelude.
Not sure what it was from, it was like that when I bought it.

It looks like hot coolant sprayed out from the reservoir or a hose.

I am also going with the hot coolant theory. I had some marks from where the hood closed I took like a step two finishing wax with some grit to take them off. YOU CAN NOT RUB IT too much because it will take the unfinished paint right off. Good luck

If it was brake fluid-there wouldn't be any paint left. Brake and clutch fluid just eats paint all the way back to the metal.

In proability it's a thread lock compound to prevent bolts from backing out. It could be Permatex Blue whch is a medium strength. if not wiped off and alowed to dry it will leave a stain. Careless mechanic is suspected here.

Kind-of looks like the point of initial spray could have started with a faulty airconditioner hose connector. I'm not sure but could freon/compressor oil cause stains like that?
