For those of you who have experience at the quarter mile track.....
I have Mobil 1 0W40 and I just installed a new fleece oil filter to replace the paper one I installed at the last oil change 1800 miles ago (mostly highway)
Am I good to go for several runs on the track a couple weeks from now ?? Any other tips prior to race day ?
Now keep in mind that I am running a mostly stock 04 Crossfire and I am not in competition with anyone else at the track.
Just a newbie to the track experience and going to have some fun and see what #s I can run.

That's a great attitude to have. Track days are all about fun, practice, and beating your personal best.

That being said, there WILL be an afternoon bracket race. You might get paired up against a monster, but if you run consistently, you could beat it.

PM me your mailing address please so I can mail you out the info packet with your wristbands.

I'll be there if the weather turns better! I'm sick of winter. Here it is the end of March and we get more snow. Drove the SRT to work for a few days, and it was great getting it out again. It sat since December as I wasn't going to try to drive it in the snow. Have a 4 wheeler for that crap. I want to see what it will do on a track before I start to play with it.
It'll be great to see Gary and Riot again too.
Paul

Check with ChicagoX and confirm that there are still open spots for this private event.
If there are it will be good to see you again. Gary

Kirk, I will take ya up on pulling that trigger. I have a motorcycle helmet I will be bringing. Another thing I would enjoy would be to ride shotgun with a few 11 second Mercedes. Is a passenger allowed on a track run. I know the extra 200 pounds would not help the time though.lol

Technically, they aren't allowed to let passengers go on a sub-14-sec pass.

Since this is a rental, however, they might if we ask nicely......

Technically, we're full with 20 cars.

Realistically, 4 haven't paid yet and I expext 1-2 to drop out.

I could squeeze him in if needed.

I'll have to talk with the other half tonight to see if she's interested in coming up there, it's about a 200 mile trip for me. For some reason she don't like me going places by myself , I guess she thinks I'll get lost or something. I'd really like to see how my RENNtech powered SRT 6 stacks up against some of the other modded SRT 6's and some C32's.

ChicagoX, please check your PM's. I think I'm in if the offer is still good, the other half is suppose to let me know sometime this morning after checking the date of something she has going on.
Thanks, Steve

I'm off work today, I get every other Friday off, but I usually work it for the O/T to support my habit (spending to much $$) . But the boss wouldn't let me work today because I would have been the only one there, most everybody is off with their kids that's on spring break. My wife did go into work this morning, so I'm waiting on her to call me to let me know if we can go. She does the March of Dimes walk every year and she thinks the date is on the 12th, but she had to double check on her email at work. Last night she said that if everybody running at the track would donate $100 to the March of Dimes she would let me go for sure. I think she's going to cave in and let me go even if she can't go with me, if she can't go I will probably bring my brother or a friend (so I won't get lost or forget to come home ).

Looks like I'm in, so bring that exta full faced helmet in case they won't let me run with my regular Harley Davidson helmet.

Are we laying the $$ down before our first run . If my G-tech meter is accurate (12.3xx) with street tire's it will be a close one. But I don't know for sure how much improvement the new Hoosier DR's are going to gain me off the launch, 2.039 @ 60' & TC on with street tire's has been about my best launch on the G-tech meter. But who knows that G-tech meter could be a lying SOB .
