Default Track Day Today!

I went to MIR (Maryland International Raceway) and my runs were a mixed bag. It was my first time at a track and about 50 degrees. I only did three runs 12.89 @109.39 60' 2.058 (traction issues out the gate), 13.73 @108.78 60' 2.286 (engine bogged + traction), and 13.15 @109.45 60' 2.133 (traction prob no bog). The runs were done with no rev, traction control off, and trans in 1st (let the trans shift itself). Im happy with the runs considering my Conti's arent really helping the cause.

R/T 1.063
60' 2.058

Good job man, 12.89 is real good with only a cai and bad tires. Now put the rest of your mods on and get to the low 12's.

50 degrees the next time you will be in the 12.7's easy with the conti's. Go around the water and back up to give you some room. don't go in the water. Light the conti's a bit and your ready to go. Launch around 2200 rpm or just a bit higher and you should be off to 1.90 60' times or better.

The first run (12.89) kind of caught me off guard (my first ever run) and they hadn't wet the staging area yet. The last two the water was unavoidable so I think that played into my slower times. I definitely need to work on my launch either way.

Are you going to get DR's? If so, get some practice with those on and get comfortable before you add more mods. I remember one of the club days at the track, some guy with a new ZO6 hit the wall shortly after taking off. You will be making lots of horsepower and I wouldn't even attempt on street tires. Not worth spinning out on the track. Also remember you need to feel comfortable to avoid if the guy next to you, accidently comes into your lane. There are a few on here with comp licenses, but the rest of us is trial and error. Just error may mean totalling a perfect SRT6. Be safe and have fun.

I definitely need to get Dr's with the mods I'm about to insatll or all that power will be useless. I'm having the HE,pump, and thermostat installed tommorrow. I'm planning on having a custom exhaust (rear cats and resonator delete and debating whether to go dual 2.5" all the way back or into one 3" to the muffler) done in the next couple of weeks. I will probably hold off installing the 185 pulley when it comes in. I plan on finishing my build up this summer with a Snow water/meth kit and a phantom grip LSD. I don't think I'll be able to get into the 11's even with everything installed without some DR's (too much power). If I can't get into the 11's with all that plus the DR's, I'll be shocked and really dissapointed/ crushed/ pissed. Well, thats my buildup plans for now.

With all those mods, I'd be all the above if I didn't hit 11's either. The main mod you don't have control over is the perfect weather you need to get to the 11's. My 12.5's will become 13.1's this summer. Have fun and be safe.

Talking Re: Track Day Today!

I don't understand the 2200 launch, golly if I go over 1700, lift the brake and THEN push the gas further to try and eliminate wild sheel spin, Ill just sit there. For grins after autocross I tried to get better 60' times than my 1.90 with the street tires and it just spun. The Hoosiers (DR) that I got do not respond to the 49 degree day. I have mild mods so far but got a good set of pulls on Saturday at the dyno, if interested check out my post under this srt is a mean motor scooter to see the data sheets, Woody

I may go back to my Kumos.
