My SRT-6 won’t go faster than 115 mph!
I tired to drive my SRT all the way up to its rated top speed limit on Saturday, but for some reason it wouldn’t exceed 115 mph. I had it for awhile in 4th gear speeding at 100 mph and watched the tachometer rev up to and remain at 6000 rpm. A few seconds later, I decided to shift the gear into ‘D’ drive, but there was no noticeable change in speed, even after maintaining the speed of car at 6000 rpm. What is wrong with my car? What am I doing wrong?

Wanna' race for pinks?
If the automatic transmission let you stay in 4th gear at over 6,000 RPM, I'm suprised. Have it checked out. Also, make sure your Inter Cooler pump is not faulty, as this would keep the super charger from turning on and really reduces your available horsepower.
Hope that helps... good luck.

It sounds like a faulty I/C pump...and if it is, you will feel like you have a whole new car when you get it fixed.
Hope you figure it out.

What you have is a NON CROSSFIRE computer installed I had some warrenty work done on the computer of my 04 limited and I took it out and when I hit 110 it was as if someone put the brakes on it wouldn't go any faster. I took it back to find out while other madels of computers will work they also have speed governors in them they changed it out at no additional cost and back to 145mph I was.

Sounds like you were using the autostick then shifted to auto D? just try driving it all the way up in D,i noticed going from autostick to man doesnt always shift smooth or like you would think it should.

Normally, from the factory the SRT6 is supposed to be electronically speed limited to 158 mph. I have not tested this, but I easily hit 135 mph on the front strait at California Speedway in March, 2007.
Cheers!

The intercooler pump is there to pump coolant through a air charge cooler located under your super charger, but above the intake. In line it is actually after the air filters but BEFORE the super charger. After the supercharger, the air goes directly into the intake runners. As the air goes into the engine, the Air Charge Cooler is supposed to cool the air down PRIOR to entering the super charger so that more air will fit in the cylinders and allow a richer fuel mixture and also not overheat the supercharger itself. This in turn allows more horsepower to be generated.
If the intercooler pump is faulty or not running correctly (i.e. - not pumping fluid constantly) then the intake air temperature will become too high and the engine will reduce power to save both the super charger and the engine itself from damage.
Hope that helps... the above pictures are directly from the downloadable SRT6 service manual. Use the search in Adobe's PDF reader to find "Charge Air Cooler".

IC pump fo sho
I ran around with no intercooler one night night, due to a leak in one of my lines. The temps were in the 40's so I though it would be alright. Nope, went to race my friend and the car pulled strong until 3rd gear, wouldn't go past 100mph. I disconnected the battery for minute and it ran fine again. You will need to get your pump replaced or I recommend upgrading to the Johnson CM30.

Well I got my car back and I'm happy with performance but not the cost to fix it. I took the car to Stone Mountain Jeep Chrysler Dodge, and they wanted to charge me $1600 to fix everything. Even at that price, they couldn't even find the fault with IC/Pump. So, anyway I let them change the oil and oil filter, and when I picked up my car, I got a bill for $220!
Then I took the car to Carmax and they were able to diagnose the problem, and found the faulty IC/Pump.
I asked them to do the 30K mile service, fix the seat heaters, replace the fix-a-flat canister, change Cabin filter and Air cleaner. When I picked up the car on Friday, got another bill for $631!
So, when you add it all up. I paid a wopping $851 to fix my car.
