That's right. It seems like Carmax has a better Crossfire tech.

As the air goes into the engine, the Air Charge Cooler is supposed to cool the air down PRIOR to entering the super charger so that more air will fit in the cylinders and allow a richer fuel mixture and also not overheat the supercharger itself. This in turn allows more horsepower to be generated.

If the intercooler pump is faulty or not running correctly (i.e. - not pumping fluid constantly) then the intake air temperature will become too high and the engine will reduce power to save both the super charger and the engine itself from damage.

Hope that helps... the above pictures are directly from the downloadable SRT6 service manual. Use the search in Adobe's PDF reader to find "Charge Air Cooler".

Cheers!
The air is drawn thru the filters into the supercharger and THEN is blown thru the intercooler and THEN to the intake runners and cylinders.

Have you checked the SC cooling pump? When mine went out it wouldn't go fast either. The SC wouldnt kick in because it was too hot.
Also check the air filters. You could also check the troubleshooting section of the manual.

Yeah, the technican check the temperature sensor going into the supercharger and found the temperature reading to be hotter than it should be. He also said that the IC pump appeared to be working fine but it wasn't pumping enough coolant through the Intercoller.

yeah the intercooler pump is a big problem with the str6's, i took mine to a dealership nearby and they fixed mine under warranty within a few days of having it and they tested the car to make sure it was working, and when i went to go pick up my car i could have sworn it was faster lol
