Turning ESP off
I was talking with a Tech. from Chrysler proving grounds yesterday and he claims that on all SRT's there are three steps in the ESP. ON, partial disable and full disable. He claims full disable is not for the general public. He told me to get the ESP to total disable you push and hold the traction control button in for at least 10 seconds and you will hear a beep telling you the unit is in full disable. I think this guy was feeding me some b.s. but someone may want to try it.
I just went out and tried it. No beep, but the traction control light on the dash turned off at the 10 second mark. I didn't go for a drive, just tried it in the driveway.
When you get time go for a spin and see if it worked and let the members know. I would be very surprised if it does work but if it did I would bet a lot of folks would be happy.

I still would be surprised if it worked. The other SRT vehicles are pretty much all Chrysler wheras the Crossfires are a re-bodied SLK. If this worked on a SRT Crossfire I wonder if it would work on a Benz?
I have heard the ESP can only be killed by pulling some fuses to kill the computer, sort of like doing a labotomy on HAL-9000 in 2001 the movie. Dasie Dasie What are y ou

This doesn't work on the Crossfires. It does work on the Charger, 300 and Cherokee SRT-8s. But, only on late 2006 and up cars. 2005 and early 2006 SRT-8s didn't do this.
I can't explain why the ESP light on ours cars goes out after 10 seconds, but it def. isn't disabling the system. With the knowledge of other SRT vehicles I tried this as soon as I got the crossfire and figured out it didn't work. Sucks I know, but Mercedes Benz just doesn't trust humans behind the wheel of their Mach Schnell Wagons...

Curious.......how long would your tires last if this turned out to be true?
