Blood??? - DEER!!!
I drove my car to work this morning for the first time this year, rolled over to 3K on the way here. Anyway it was 5:15 am and dark, I was following another car about 6 or so car length's behind them. All of the sudden the road was red, I knew what it was from because I'd seen it before. I let off the gas, but there was no time to stop and I couldn't go to the other lane because of on coming traffic. The only thing I could do was drive right over the top of it at about 50 mph, it lifted the car as I went over it. I was really worried that it got the lower part of my bumper, but it didn't. The guards at the gate of where I work were late getting there to open up, so I had to sit there and wait not knowing if I tore up anything and smelling the roasting deer debris. I went out after it got good & daylight to see if there was any damage, to my suprize I didn't see anything on my lower bumper. But there is a hell of a mess of blood, hair and deer meat on the under side of my car.

glad you're ok- you didnt mention the driver so i assume he is ok too. i worry about deer all the time here in middle tennessee! used to be just on the back roads but now its everywhere- interstates too.
btw...don't need to see no muffler blood, hair and gut pix.

I go back and forth between NW Ohio and NE Indiana all year long to our lake home and back. Tons of deer any time of year. I put those deer whistles on my SUV and haven't hit any deer. Of course I haven't hit any elephants either.
They say that the whistles are quite effective. Any opinions on them one way or another?
I saw a write up from a woman who manages a fleet of vehicles and she said it greatly reduced their deer/vehicle contacts by installing the whistles.

If it makes you feel any better, I did the exact same thing about 3 weeks ago... Now, my car isn't the Show stopper that yours is, so I just took the power washer to it the best I could. I did have a "hunk" of meat in the lower grill though. That was pleasant to pull out....
I guess we are both glad it wasn't a live one...

I had a new Z-28 about 10 years back and hit a deer going about 70mph. The damage was 9500.00. I travel early in the morning and since then I am always alert but sometimes it does not matter what you do. Well at least you can call your Crossfire OLD BLOOD an GUTS.

. When she got home I checked it over real good, I couldn't believe all I found was a little hair & meat on the lower front.
Dang, you are super lucky. Here in the SW corner of colorado, hitting a deer or seeing a dead one on the side of the road is a daily occurance. I have managed to hit two now in my many years driving the 70 miles to work. One in a ranger, only broke the grill, and one in my old dodge ram with a "deer slayer" bumper. Needless to say, the dodge was fine, and no damage, well worth the 1K for the bumper. After selling that truck, kept the bumper and gave it to my dad for his dodge, and he has hit one with it, and still no damage. Now as to the deer whistles, my grandfather, god bless, has hit more deer with his wagon when i was driving than I ever did hunting, and I normally brought one home a year. I avoid the whistles, as everyone I see here, hits deer with them. The PD put them on half of their fleet and the half that had them, almost all of them hit a deer at some point. The other half, i think only one hit one, and he was following one of the pd cars that had whistles on it. Just my 2 and 1/2 cents

I was doing some searching on deer blood and found this forum. I hope it is okay to ask here, not trying to hijack a thread.
I recently had a deer jump into the front seat with me on my way to work. The animal left a ton of hair and blood all over the interior. Insurance only wants to pay for a clean and detail job plus the glass and dash. The repair shop owner says they have to replace the carpet, seats, dash, radio, headliner and heater control because of germs from the blood.
Anyone have an experience with this? Is there any documentation out there spelling out the health issues by leaving the blood in things?
Estimated damage at around $8,000 and there is no body damage, it's mainly inside issues.
I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks to all.

Dang - In Southern California we don't have deer to run over anymore - we have to watch out for something else.
