Default Newb Questions.

Hey All, I'm a Newb to this forum. I have been looking around for about a day now, just joined. As of right now I don't own a car. I just totaled my 2008 Mazda3GT, (No one was hurt Thank God). I was looking at the MazdaSpeed3, when I saw a local crossfire for sale that really caught my eye. I looked into them a little more and found the SRT6 model, and fell in love with the car. I just have a few questions...

1) How available/expensive are mods for the srt6? Also how mod friendly is the crossfire?

2) Reliability/Maintenance wise how is the car? Do I need to worry that I should have AAA plus membership?

3) I plan to drive the car in snow, would I need any thing special other than a good set of snow tires?

4) When going to purchase a used crossfire what key things should I look for?

5) I know it has 330hp but how fast is the crossfire really? What other cars are in its class of speed? Other than the M3

Thanks for the help in advance.

1) Mods are ever growing for this car. To give you and example on price, I spent $1267 on an Intake and Pulley and I cut nearly a full second off my 1/4mile. The car can be as mod friendly as you would like it to be! Most of us, just with a few mods(Pulleys, Intakes, Tunes) Are going mid-low 12's on street tires and trapping 111-117(which is 11sec mph).

2) AAA is always a good thing to have. This car doesn't have a spare This car is VERY reliable BTW. Other than a blowout and a damaged rim, you should be ok.

2) I don't recommed snow driving especially if you are going to mod. If you do make sure you leave the traction control on!

4) Just make sure it has a clean car fax. Low milage seems to be the biggest thing with everyone. I bought mine with 37k on it. I have no issues other than the IC pump failure(that nearly everyone has experienced).

5) M3, C5 Vette, LS2 GTO etc.......

1) On the expensive side to mod comparatively (you have to take into account the low production number). Mods are coming faster and better. We have cars on the brink of 11's with mostly bolt on parts.

2) IC pump seems to be the standout universal problem. Easily fixed by buying a 135 dollar aftermarket pump. Throttle reset every once in a while if you drive in stop and go traffic all the time. (buy a sprint booster)

3) Because of the torque is so readily available and rear wheel drive, that is not advisable especially after modding.

4) Take a thorough test drive (if your not thoroughly impressed then theres something wrong with the car) and carfax.

5) Stock cars run anywhere from high 12's to low 13's stock (mostly low 13's).
