Did the shopping cart survive? I know of someone with a plasma cutter.

Wow, that's tough. I had the same thing happen to me years ago in a MB. And, we were sitting in the car when it happened!

I hope the shopping cart had insurance!

If you were at WAL-MART they might pay for it! This happen to my wifes car (very minor ding ) at about 3am with only about 10 cars in the lot. Security took our info and they called us back the next day. They said they would not take care of it because they had policed the lot and there were only a few carts in it. HOWEVER, if it was busy and there were a lot of carts lying around they said they would have paid for the damage! They were very apogetic and Ithink if Iwould have pushed the issue they might have changed their answer.

If I where you I would check your weather stripping for rust, if so, you can have the dealership replace the door.

I'd see if there are any Dent Wizard franchises (or something similar) in your area. While your dents look pretty deep, if the paint is not broken, they can sometimes work near miracles without having to get the paint can out.

Same thing happened to me about 2 years ago in a grocery store parking lot. I parked away from all the other cars went into Cold Stone for some ice cream and when I came out a shopping cart was in the side of my car at the front passenger side fender with a big dent. I don't know if it was intentional or not but I was extremely upset the only good thing about any of this was my insurance covered it under comprehensive w/zero deductable and no premium increase. I feel your pain.

I was parked at the bottom of a hill away from the store (in an attempt to avoid door dings and such ...) and the shopping cart had plenty of distance to pick up speed. I wouldn't be surprised if someone gave it a little push at launch either. No cameras and no witnesses. I'm going to see if PDR is an option.
