I would like to go down to a 15,16,17" rim on the rear and add the biggest racing slick that I can to alter my gear ratio to the lowest I can get it and still have a pretty big sidewall ( 3:50- 3:70 or so ratio?) strictly for drag racing, any info appreciated! I have seen wheels w/ 5 x 112mm x 17 with 36 offset but nothing smaller. And how big of a tire/wheel combo do you think will fit? I know there are alot of number crunchers out there, please help! Thanks in advance
I too am working on figuring out the same thing. I will NOT go back to the track without a set of real slicks in the trunk. I did some test fitting and i "think" a pair will fit in our trunk.
Cruizenquick is running 16's but i wonder if any 15's will clear the brakes? The smallest wheel w/ the most sidewall should work best.

I have a set of 220 body S-class wheels that are 16x7 1/2 that bolt rite up and BARELY clear the brake caliper..........but I decided against using them due to the skinny width.
Hey check out this wheel I found on EBAY UK.
It's a mercedes spacesaver wheel. These might work for some skinnies up front, but I have no idea what car they come off of or where to get them?

I've checked that idea out as well.........the BIG problem is that you can't get any tires that'll fit on the 17'' M-B spares AND fit our OD needs. You can NOT run down the drag strip on spare tires as they are rated to 55mph and you will get kicked off the track(if the tires don't fail at 110+mph and you get wiped off the track).
I was thinking slap some Mickey Thompson ET fronts on there or another brand of skinnies, but I'm not sure how the ECU would react to the lower overall OD. Then again if you can get some low overall OD 15's in the rear it might balance things out? The computer only cares about the difference in speed between the two correct? Hossier makes a 275/35/15 that would be perfect if you could find a 15x9 wheel that would clear in the rear.
we are running old school 16" rims with mt et streets, we just sold the other 2 from the set we got our 2 from but ill look and see if there are any more that size in the store room at the benz shop, 16x8.5

You can see mine in my gallery. I have 15mm spacers and have no problem with any rubbing and still able to use the stock lugs. Mine are as close to stock height as you can get. 26.4". The rims are mercedes 16x7.5 the minimum width for the tire.

i want as much psi in there as can grip with, as the rolling resistant is worse the more air we let out.

Just curious, since I'm now afflicted with the drag racing addiction...
How much money do you have in those tires and wheels, Rob?
Also, I would LOVE to know if a pair of those would fit in the trunk. I'm betting you could only get one in there.
