Thank you cgocifer!
You made my day today...
I was looking through the old posts for some of the problems I'm having with my car and I found your cheap and easy homebrew rattle fix for the rear door!
Not havin this 1950s Ford pickup tailgate rattle and squeak behind me as I drive does WONDERS for ride enjoyment in this thing since I picked it up a few days ago. I had tried adjusting the bumpstops with little success... I even tried placing fat plastic bags crumpled up in the places where the bumpstops hit to try to create more upward force on the door... no luck. I tried the electrical tape today and it worked GREAT.
Probably too early to call full success yet... Gotta see how it holds up over time and whether or not the extra force on the upper latch part causes something else to come loose or wear out, but for now I'm pretty damn satisfied. THIS is what messageboards are for!
Thumbs up!
