Default ZR1 kill!

I was actually out looking for some victims this afternoon so I can't start this one off with an MMOB.

North Ave and Powis going over the hill next to diamonds eastbound I see an old Vette Zr1 sitting at the light ahead. I immediatly cut a few people off and a few honks and middle fingers later i'm next to him at the light! The guy looks over (middle aged guy) and says to me is that the SRT version? I said yes (and am thinking wow someone actually knows about this car?!).

I saw coming into it he definetly had some HUGE rear tires (not DR's) and an exhaust. I was really not sure how this race was going to go as I always heard rumors of how fast these Zr1's are even stock and this one looked like at the minimum like it had exhaust.

He starts rev'ing on the opposite yellow and boom here we go! I pull 2 Lenghts on him immediatly and then all of a sudden I hear what sounds like a blower and it's not coming from my car! I look in my side mirror and see what looks like is going to be a helluva flyby when all of a sudden i hear a grind that was so loud it seemed to have echoed under his car!

The pull had stopped and I noticed him pulling over behind me over the hill into the street sign place.

I'm fairly certain this guy fucked sumptin in his tranny up but did NOT want to go back and find out.

The mamba was saved from certain death due to mechanical failure on the vette's part!

A win is a win!

This one was going down the other way...would have been an ol notch taken away if the vette didn't get hurt along the way!

You mentioned you thought you heard a blower - I wonder if THAT'S what blew?

Congrats on the kill... It's too bad he modified that ZR1 though... I bet it's worth good money unmodified.

Either way, a win is a win!

Nice story except for the part about cutting people off, which is not cool. Hopefully you were just joking about that part. Those are the types of drivers I see quite often that pisses me off and hate them with a vengence.

I just wanted to emphasize that I had to do some manuvering to get the light with him...

But living in Orlando as your profile suggests would be very frustrating...NOTHING BUT RENTAL CAR TOURISTS ON THE ROADS!

Is this the only part of this you could make a statement about? Wow, nothing I can add to this without getting in trouble.

I'm suprised that ZR1's are still around. With todays car being far superior.

I still don't think I would go around telling everyone my SRT out ran the ZR1 untill you actually sit side by side and you both acknowledge that you are about to race and that there is a specific distance. To many stories about people out running everything under the sun. Have any of you actually won when there was a turn involved? Plus Have you ever noticed that when there is money on the line these hotrodders always seem to be having some troubles with this or that or "well I have the parts coming".
Sorry if it sounds as though I am doughting you it's just... you know.
I'm just waiting to hear the story about "I came up next to this Enzo"...
Love those Road Courses!

yeah that ain't no ZR1 kill. I doubt he was really trying. he definatly poped something. the ZR1 has insane torque that would of knocked you on your ***. GM had to detune them because some engines where snaping cranks,
depending on his model year, and I'm sure since it's such an old car it's been modified over the years, but for 1990 they made 375bhp to 405hp at the end of the run in 1995

We were side by side and he was revving if thats not good enough for you to know someone is going to hit it you need to trade your car in and get a geo metro immediatly. I knew the car was going to be fast once I heard the blower coming from under his hood. And whats all this crap about a turn being involved? I don't care too much about a roadcourse and it has nothing to do with this kill story. You can doubt me all you want but I do have timeslips and vids backing up most of my runs at the track. My car has a best run of 12.2@113 as my signature shows and I have actually beaten MANY faster cars simply because I just mash the pedal and don't need to worry about shifting.

Mechanical error is a VERY valid reason why a car can lose. If your **** aint running right and a toyota prius blows by you then you lose. If a car blows up in Nascar on the final lap but was leading the whole way who gets the points?

If this guy was not trying why did he rev and blow something up when he was shifting?

And no stock Zr1 is going to knock my SRT on it's ***. I owned a Z06 before this SRT and my SRT with it's current mods is faster in every way. Not sure if you noticed or not but my car has pulleys/tune/intake.
