Forgive me if this is a dumb question or has been answered(I can't find it)....

Is it okay to take these types of cars to a car wash with rollers. The kind that pulls the car though. I badly needed a quick wash but waited to get the experts opinions????

My crossfires will never see the inside of a car wash. They get babied at home.

mine has gone through it before. and it came out great. the only thing that had to be done was the rims.

 

hand wash only. but then again the less you pay for it the easier it is to let someone else touch it.

 

Better off dirty and wait until you can do it yourself. You can get big time swirls and scratches. They don't use enough water and if the car that went through ahead of you had sand on it, the brushes will grind it into your finish.

 

I certainly understand everyone's opinion regarding the horrors of using a tunnel car wash (my own cars never get washed anywhere but in my own driveway and by my own hands) but to address the OP's real question - can the Crossfire be taken through a roller pull through automatic wash? - yes, they can.

Having said that, I can't think of a single reason why you would want to do something so mean and viscous to such a nice car.

The day I bought my Crossfire was quite rainy. When I went to work the next morning, I wanted to show it off nice and clean so I went to a quickie touchless wash. Being previously unaccustomed to low profile tires as I drove in, the rims slightly rubbed against the tracks that guide your tire into the machine leaving a couple of small gashes on the outer edge of the rims.

Never again.

I never said I did it, I love my car too!! The less we pay for em huh? I've owned a limited since the end of 05. Just recently purchased a SRT. I did buy the SRT because of the recent value you get with the purchase. It doesn't make me love my car any less though. I'd love it if I paid $40,000- or $2.00.

So hand wash it is than.

Is it just me and my warped mind ? When I first read this statement I thought it had sexual implications.

 

I took mine to a hand wash about 5-6 times... After waxing it myself, purchasing a california duster, chamois, and carcover, I easily go a month without having to wash my car... and I'll now do it myself everytime. And speaking of washing my car - I'll be doing that tomorrow since I left the carcover off for 4 days

 

i would not use a tunnle wash , someone years back
ties a fishing line withe a sinker in the rollers and beat
the hell out of a nice car, what turdheads will do sometimes

 

touchless car washes are ok if you need a quick clean up.Buy yourself a foam gun and wash it yourself when you have the time.You will have the cleanest car in town

So I guess it's not just you ...lol

 

If the car wash has a track that the wheel rides in then I would not advise at all.
Our wheels our wide enough to be scratched along the rail and the tire offers no protection to the edge of the rim.
The other thing commonly that can be a issue are the brushes themselves.
No matter soft cloth or whatever they hold large amounts of dirt that is abrasive on a cars finish.
The brush type car wash are often driven by hydraulics which if even slightly leaking will transfer a film of oil to your car finish.
If you must use a auto wash go touchless with no tracks for the wheels.
