Default Newby Intro: Just bought SRT-6

I just purchased a black '05 SRT-6 w/ 14K miles. I am in San Diego and I fly to Phoenix on Wednesday to drive it home (5-6 hours). I have been lurking on this board for a month, but didn't want to join unti I bought. This looks like a great resource--good guys with plenty of knowledge.

I am a car guy, owning a few performance cars in the past:

'84 Porsche 944
'88 BMW M5
'73.5 Porsche 911
'95 BMW M5
'03 Mercedes C32 AMG

I loved the C32 and this is what sparked my interest in the SRT-6 a few years ago. In the past, I have done plenty of my own routine service (and some mods) myself when knowlege and time permitted. I have less time these days (2 kids) but I would still like to do relatively simple maintenance and easy mods that make a difference.

I look forward to a good relationship with the car and with the community here.

Alright, I would like to see one stay in the valley. Glad it's going to a forum member. If you need a ride from the airport to pick up your car give me a pm. Pack light and I'll pick you up in the six.

Thanks for the courteous offer. I think that the seller is picking me up from the airport. I don't know if I will leave for SD from there or drive him back to his home/office. I would say we should get together for lunch/beers, but I will probably want to hit the road quickly as I have to work on Thursday. SD is relatively close, though. We should hook up sometime.

Forgot to add: I am buying the car to use as a daily driver--should drive it approx. 400 miles weekly.

Congrats & welcome.

You'll have to tell us how the SRT6 compares to your C32 AMG.

Always good to have another member. Welcome!

So that's some pretty low milage, which is a good thing considering your going to be driving it so much. I was curious how much you got it for if you don't mind saying.

Sounds good. There is an In N' Out on your way to SD at I-10 and Dysart Rd. or plenty of other places in that area. Let me know what time you plan on driving out and I'll see if I can meet you.

We are in the preliminary stages of planning a San Diego meet. Keep an eye on the Regional Forums - West Forums for details if you'd like to attend.

Where in Stoplight Dieg... I mean San Diego do you live? I live in the San Carlos area and I'm another one who uses the 6 as a daily driver.

Brent, I live in Imperial Beach and commute to Rancho Santa Fe. Some local events would be cool.
