Reinbursement of the car's lost value
So since someone hit me and my car is not going to be worth as much as it was with the possibility of $8k in repairs (been doing some preliminary estimating and there's a good chance it could be that high with labor and paint, parts alone are going to be near $3K+) how do I go about getting a payment from the guy's insurance company that can compensate me for my diminished loss in value now that the car is wrecked. Basically things to say and not to say.
I've never been this serious of a wreck before. A fender/bender is one thing but this is some major damage.
Also, what kind of drop could I see in the value of the car if I were to sell it after everything is fixed. (not that I'm going to but it'll give me a good ballpark as to what I should start at)
Car has 28k miles and will have a new left side and possibly new paint on 3/4 of the car.
Thanks and I'll keep posting on the progess

check with your insurance co,, if yoiu have that in your policy and you have an est of value of your car before the wreak and then go to car max and see what they will give you for the car ,,,your ins should pay you and then collect from his ins, this became law in fl. about 6 years ago and the ins cos went to Tallahassee and got it changed to where you (the people) had to pay for it on your policy,, i though the same as you when my camry was hit ,before and after was 4000.00 differance ,,,after it was fixed my ins co state farm said i did not take that part in my policy so i was **** out of luck,,, but maybe we should sue the at falt party for the differand,. jim ft. lauderdale
Geico doesn't have it, I asked. When I purchased the car I was offered GAP coverage but didn't take it. I just wasn't sure if there was something I could do
I don't think I would worry about "diminished" value of the SRT. The repairs are mainly cosmetic. No frame or roof damage. Fender replacement is a no brainer. The door would be my only concern, because it has all the factory info on it. So, I would avoid changing the driver's door.

You'll have to hire an attorney, and if you've not sustained any injuries, you'll probably have to pay him/her upfront.....What with Carfax, your car's value will most certainly be diminished. Whether or not you want to foot the expense of suing the insurance company will be up to you.
if it's a wrecked low miles srt6 it's worth $10,000, for the driveline and complete ecu, wire harness with RF ring and original keys, not to mention the suspension if not destroyed to badly, part it out yourself if need be.
If mine was in a accident - at this point (availability of cars) I would seriously consider selling it and buying another one. I want to have mine at least 10 years if not longer. I really don't see myself selling it, but who knows what life will throw at me in the next 10 years

Who will do the bodywork? Dealer? or Other? Dealer will want to put on a new door. Since the other guys insurance is paying go for it. Finding a roadster window might take awhile. Consider saving the original. They sell for $300 by the glass companies.
I had my passenger door replaced and there is absolutely no changes from the original door. Wind sounds are the same and there are not any leaks on the passenger door. My driver's side window leaks slightly, but that is due to an adjustment that needs to be done when they put the new top on when the window separated.
If the dealer does the work it will go to carfax. If a regular bodyshop does the work, I doubt Carfax will have a clue.
It'll go to the dealer body shop, they do really good work and honestly, if they don't deem the car totaled (which I doubt, but you never know) then I'm going to keep it and never sell it. It's already a collectors car as it is.
Plus it's fun as hell to drive.
