New Challenger SRT's at the drags...

Road and Track had the Challenger SRT8 rated
0-60 4.7sec
1/4 mile 13sec
I looked like they would give the SRT6 a run for the money.
Road and Track was spot on with the SRT6.
I'm surprised at the actual numbers.

They could've been given a "factory freak" or a prototype car which happens a lot on new cars. It's always good to have nice numbers you can show off in a magazine.............but can't reproduce on the street(cough.........mustang gt...........cough).
There's nothing shocking about the times. When Chrysler first announced the new car, I knew it was a problem with all that weight just like all the SRT8's. Not sure why they would make a beautiful looking car real heavy. I think it's about 800-900 lbs heavier than the SRT-6. That's just a pig in my eyes.
The high power LX cars have always had torque reduction between gears to spare the Mercedes drivetrain parts from the torque. SRT8's with the transmition module flashed show much better ETs (but risk the longevity of their trans).
Wait for the 6 speed to come out before you pass judgement.

6 speed, 10 speed it doesn't matter to me, it's still too heavy. Put a 6 speed or 10 speed in an SRT6 and see what happens there. Don't get me wrong, I've been a big fan way back when the Challenger came out since my cousin owned several of them and I enjoyed them all. I just don't like heavy cars and that is why I choose light weight over anything else. A more nimble lighter car to me is a lot more fun to drive. A stock SRT-6 and stock SRT-8 run about the same at the track, and the SRT-6 has 100 less hp. What does that tell you? We are all different and express our own views, which is a great thing or we wouldn't have anything to debate about. Just picture a new SRT-8 at about 3300 lbs, now that would be awesome and kick some serious a$$ off and on the drag strips. What can I say, I'm a power to weight type of guy!

That's why you just add power to the SRT-8's. Mine's running about 530-540bhp(450rwhp) and it helps compensate for my 4450lb race weight.
Now here is a controversial question! Is there a formula that calculates like bhp?
As mentioned above, an SRT8 with 426bhp will run with a stock SRT6.
So if an SRT8 weighs 800 to 900lbs more, would that mean ever 100lbs you lose 10 to 12bhp??
I know you can't lose bhp but weight does affect times/speed.

well they say that every hundred pounds its something like.1 on your quarter mile so im sure there is a way to calculate weight/hp

SRT-6 = 3200lbs SRT-8= 4300lbs.....................that's what mine weigh at least
every 100lbs of weight shed/lost= .1 faster 1/4 and/or 10 horsepower generally
as far as RWHP and BHP goes...........most cars generally lose 17-20% hp through the drivetrain(FWD or RWD) and it's even higher on AWD vehicles.
