All of the gas stations in the Asheville, NC only have 87 octane gas.
What is the best way to boost the octane of regular?
Would an octane booster or some toluene do the trick or should I just put her up until the 93 octane is flowing again?

I'm almost out of gas and don't want to have to drive the old Ranger if I can avoid it.

Just put her up till the end of this week we should be ok by then.

 

One tank of 87 octane won't hurt

 

i would put it up. theres no way my car will ever see that kind of fuel

 

I agree.
No way I'm going to run 87 octane at 15 psi of boost.
If there is no good way to bump it to at least 91, I'm putting her up for a few days.

What's up with that? No shortages up here, prices have actually started to go back down too. I wouldn't put 87 in her if I were you.

Go buy some octane booster at autozone or walmart. It will bring 87 up to about 90, maybe 91 depending on the dilution ratio.

I dont know about the chemical effects of octane booster (besides the octane rating) so use at your own risk. But I brought 2 bottles with me to a cabin town where they had no premium gas. I didnt need it though so couldn't tell ya about the end result.
