Default My SRT on Texas Motor Speedway

What a blast. Last night we were able to take the SRT out onto Texas Motor Speedway for a run. What a great time. Being a race fan, it really gave you a great perspective what the drivers see. I went out with a Sky car club along with a Vette and a Viper that were both in front of me. There were three pace trucks that kept everyone in line. We took off exiting the pits and ran three good laps. I was not able to pass but ran 90 - 94 mph through the turns and hit 100 between turn two and three. I had a controlled 4 wheel drift coming out of two as I made my way up to 100. I hope to have an awsome picture of the SRT in the winners circle. Should find out Monday. My wife thought we would slide dowwn the banking in the turns but I hugged the bottom with no issues in the turns.

I hope to figure out how to put it on Youtube.

That purple car ahead of you is a vette right? I think I saw it on the woodward dream cruise

Yes, It is an Indy 500 Pace Car addition. He also owned the Viper in front of him. Must be nice however I liked the Viper more than his Vette.

It was great. I wish I could have gone out twice. The car I was impressed with the most was a new Skyline GT-R which was very nice. Too bad there was not some more Xfires with me.

Sounds like a gas. Did you have any trouble exiting off four back on to pit road? I rounded Charlotte twice in my XF and could swear that the entrance to pit lane was half the size it started out at when we were done. I dont know how the Sprint Cup guys do it after running 175mph plus and then slowing down to 55mph for pits. I honestly couldnt see pit road until I was right on top of it.

Sounds like it was a blast Steve. Wish we could have done it. I have been in touch with the lady in charge of the Speedway's charity events. They won't have another lap event until May of next year. However, there is a autocross event coming up in November. I've posted a new thread about it here: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ad.php?t=28159

Hopefully we can get lots of Crossfires out there.

No, but they did slow us down ahead of time. Your right though, it would be very diffcult and take a lot of skil to do this at speed. I will tell you that the sweat was rolling off me. What a rush.

You know, we should really try to get as many of us together as we can for the May event. They let car clubs out before opening it up for the public. It would be an awsome sight with 10 Crossfires flying around the track together.

I will post on YouTube but the video is on Google now. You can search Crossfire SRT-6 and Texas Motor Speedway.

That is really cool. That track looks like one of the most fun places to race. That must've been a great experience.

That would be awesome! Here's the email she sent me today:

"Hi Dan~
It is not public yet but I can get you a reserved time slot if you like.
Car clubs have to commit to having at least 14 cars together to get a reserved time slot.
Shifts are anytime between 5:07 pm – 6:54 pm.
It is a $30 donation for 3 laps, $10 for an event t-shirt & $10 for a photo of you and your vehicle in Victory Lane .
You can also purchase an additional 3 laps for $30 but you will have to wait for those laps in the “re-buy” line.
The flyer is attached from this past weekend.
Let me know if DFWXfies would like to reserve a shift.
Wendy"

I've got a VM into her to ask her the details of what date we need to have the commitment.

Let's do it!!!! Do you have any pull on the other DFW owners and club members? We should invite the Central texas guys as well for anyone that would be willing to make the trip. The reserved spot for the clubs is the way to go if we can get enough to participate.

As soon as I get a few more details I'll post a new thread about the event. I would think we could get 14 xfire owners interested.

I am hoping that the DFW Xfires will have scheduled an outing on that date at TMS.

sweet, if i'm lucky then we'll have some mods done to ours (finally) before then.

The SRT is supposed to become mine at some point so i'm happy that we've been keeping the miles off of it, since it will be quite a few years im sure before i get it.
