Both lower intakes (left and right sides) are cast into the bottom half of the SC case. To pull the intakes, you pull out the SC and Intercooler. The Intercooler is located under the SC and is attached to the SC. All of this comes out as one piece (not 3 pieces). You follow the SC removal instructions in the SRT-6 shop manual. I will be posting a number of YouTube videos showing how all this is done.

So who wants to do this for me, and how much are you gonna charge?

MB Dealer wanted 6 hrs labor at $90/hr. You can DIY only if you are familiar with turning a wrench and have some past experience with engine/header removal. There's a lot of things that need to be removed in order to do the job right. I filled up a dozen plastic bags with assorted bits and pieces before getting down to a point where the SC could be removed. It's not rocket science and you can really gain a good appreciation for the engineering that has gone into this engine package.

You will need a good set of E-8,10,12 torque sockets plus T-15, 20, 30 torque drivers. You will also need a set of long extension torque drives (T-40 and T-45...AutoZone $20). No other special tools are required. I pulled the fuel rail and if you do that, you should get a replacement set of injector o-rings, plus the intake gaskets already talked about. I had to separate the Intercooler from the SC but you won't have to do that if just adding Lower Phenolic Spacers (LPH).

We'll have a labor quote after the install pics.

I would highly recommend against getting only this part installed at one time. I'm not sure how other shops do it, but I combine labor for parts like this. So if this takes say 4 hours, and the other spacers take 1 hour, and you get a Code 3 pulley at an hours work, and say an SL55 intake set up at an hours work, the total would be about 7 hours. We would charge around 5 since everything is apart anyway.

The part is 95.00 with the 4 gaskets from Mercedes. Without gaskets, 83.00. h

Here is just one of the twenty or so videos I shot during last weeks SC removal. This video helps show you all the main pieces. At the end of the video you will see where the new lower phenolic spacers will be installed.

I need a camera crew like that in my shop. I'm the most Camera UNsavvy person. My shots are all blurry and out of focus, and the videos I make will get you sick.

Well we finished up the install and took it for a drive. After a decently hard drive the Manifolds were warm to the touch, not hot at all.

The install only took about 2 hours and was much easier then expected.

Here is a brief step by step with some pics. I'll try and get this into a PDF ASAP.

You need to remove the top manifold by removing the 6 bolts on each side.
From ther disconnect the TB wire and vaccuum hoses going into the back of the manifold. There is one hard silver pipe and one thick black tube.
Unplug the injectors and undo the fuel rail. You can leave the fuel line connected and just move the rail out of the way.
Remove AIR pumps and tubing. Remove bracket holding Intercooler lines together. (last pic)
You will then need to remove the belt and pull off the idler pulley on the SC. Once this is complete you can lift the SC up and slide the spaers in place.

This is much easier then removing the SC from the car. Downside is that you will need at least two people.

If I forgot something I apologize, this is from memory.

Anyone know why it says I have 65353 unread messages?

The Phenolic spacers we have just released for the N/A are actually interchangable for the SC motor as well, just in a different area.

Check the thread for an exploded diagram showing where they would go. It looks like where the SC connects to the cylinder head. This would result in much better reduction of heat transfer compared to the ones used between the top of the intake manifold.

So there you go, another product for the SRT guys.

Hello, ordered your Phenolic Spacers a while ago. They shipped before 3 weeks, quoting your E-Mail. Could you please check shipping again?

Thanks for your Help!
