Not calling you a liar or anything, but to my knowledge the SL65BS hasn't been released in the US yet. Also rumored to be roughly a $300k car.

By comparison, the "regular" SL65 has been around for awhile, and is roughly a $180-200k car new. SL65 w/ nitrous should run 10's.

Since there's not a single "took delivery of my SL65BS today!" thread on mbworld, I tend to believe the rumors that it's still a couple months away until the first ones arrive, just a guess though...

 

maybe he was saying he raced a black SL65. not the black series. i could be wrong but thats what it looks like now that you said that

 

I caught a profile piece on SPEED about an open wheel race driver (an IRL driver I think -- can't remember who but like much of the non-NASCAR SPEED stuff these days he was being interviewed by drifter Tanner Faust) and the SL65 Black series he just took delivery on. Of course he immediately dropped something obscene on carbon fibering everything in and out. So it seems like some made it to the States -- presumably most if not all of the first round of these went to celebrities or people with long close ties to MB (e.g., dealership owners). I guess at this point they're almost as rare as an SRT-6 convertible.

I raced one today in the first round and he was all over me. I beat him because he broke out. I tree'd him but couldn't shake him. Fender to fender, same car as your talking about. Now your car is stock? I'm sorry but on a 1/4 mile that car will own you. I ran 12.138 to his 12.181. I can scan the slip if you want to see.

 

that's nice cruizinquick..... the 2006 SL55 runs a 13.0 stock. that's a fact.

that's what i raced, and that's what i beat....a couple times. nope, i'm not stock, pretty sure i wrote that in my original post.

OBVIOUSLY, the SL55 you raced is MODIFIED, or newer.....

 

Nope it's stock. Is there another one like this one? I thought it was a 5.5 liter supercharged. I believe he said it was a 2005? Blowing away this car means your car is smoking fast. His car did have over 50,000 miles. I've seen these with drag radials run 11.7.

 

should also note, his car is the 'roadster' which is heavier. we ran several times, and i pulled every time.
car and driver has 13.0 for the sl55amg roadster. we all know the SRT can beat that.

don't forget, cold, crappy stock tires can make a big difference. his car is totally stock, and spun hard through first 2 gears. this was not on the track.

Maybe we are talking about different cars. This was a 4 door sedan pretty sure it was an E55. Again it was a 5.5 liter V8 supercharged. Looked exactly like our motor but bigger, and it was wicked fast.

E55amg runs 12.2 in this article. not to shabby!!!! and a WAGON!!!!

That's the one. One fast 4 door. So we can check that one off the list too.

Thought I would come back and tell you the pass that E55 made with me makes him the fastest stock E55 in the nation. I told my MB friends and he researched and couldn't believe it so I sent him the slip. Best MPH for a stock E55 too. We both were at 114mph on that run. So when you see the E before the 55, choose the battle carefully.

This one was a 2005 with 50k miles on the clock. Yep, that is one mean grocery getter. Definately the 4 door that will satisfy my SRT6 cravings.

 

Was talking recently to a guy who has (had...?) a current-gen E55. Bone stock, he raced it quite a few times - best time he posted was a 12.2. Told me he was almost ready to turn it back over to MB because the lease was almost up, lol.

 

It's because the market fell out of them like everything else. You can find low mileage E55's from 2005 for low 30's to low 40's with like 20k miles on them. Higher mileage 03' and 04's are in the twentys. Just like the srt6 is a bargain, so are these cars. If I could pull my car to races with it, I'd replace my avalanche with it. I still may consider buying one next year. The motor is almost identical to the SRT6 just bigger. The one this weekend was an 03' and with a crank pulley and tune with drag radials ran an 11.41 in the 1/4. Now imagine if Rob and InMotion got ahold of one.

 

already 12.2's being posted for 'stock' E63's!!!! this might have to be my next car for work!!!!! wish it had AWD though.....
