Default How much does it cost to run 11 sec ¼ mile?

Has anyone else put pen to paper and done the math to see how much it cost to run an 11?. I think the best example in the real world is the comp between Distantpluse and Mr. Photoman’s recent runs on street tires. My numbers are only an estimate of the retail cost of these items, they may be more….or less and I took the mods from the signatures. In the case of the Needswings Manifolds….expect to pay a $500 hundred more today. I think it is amazing that for roughly $1888 in parts, you only pick up .0292 in the ¼ and 1.69 mph. This is not including tax, shipping and LABOR!!! You gotta pay to join this elusive 11 second club!!! Has anyone done it for less??

(NeedsWings Intake) $450
(NeedsWings Intake Manifolds)$999
(ASP 178mm pulley) $900
(LET Custom Tune) $500
(LET Heat Exchanger) $339
(LET Phenolic Spacers) $99
(Johnson IC Pump) $150

11.979 @ 114.89 = $3,437

(NeedsWings Intake) $450
(Code 3 Pulley) $599
(Inmotion Tune) $500

12.271@113.20 =$1,549

$1888 for .0292 and 1.69 mph

Sometimes its those last few mods that cost the most that get you to the promise land.

Also, heat exchanger, pump, and spacers are not needed to get 11's. Good driving and descent tires are tho.

That is not entirely accurate. To run an 11 sec pass you do not need a IC pump, LET HE, or the spacers.....So X those from the list and you get.....

Needswings Intake - $450
Needswings Mani's - $1190
ASP 178mm pulley - $900
LET Custom Tune - $500
Total Price = $3,040

That is what I spent to run my time. Could you do it cheaper? Maybe. I don't know. I am happy with all of my purchases so far. No complaints. And believe me, there is more to be had in my setup the way it stands now. I just have to get it to the dyno so Jerry can get the numbers and fine tune it.

You say that you don't NEED those other parts, but that is not entirely accurate either. We do not know this until someone makes an 11 second pass WITHOUT them. That is the goal of the thread...to find out the cheepest way to run an 11~ We are assuming that they would not make a difference.

I totally am in awe of your pass Distant, I respect the fact that it was done on street tires!!! You got my vote for President~LOL

Haha, Thanks man. That's funny! Well, I can almost gaurentee that the HE, spacers and IC pump won't give you anything extra in the 1/4. Those are just cooling mods really made for driving around on the street or Auto X. I don't believe Rob uses the spacers. Not sure about the HE or the IC pump? He is also running cutouts and slicks though so.....

I hope to get there for only $240 more than the $1549. Only time will tell.

Distantpluse did great with his car though!

Some of your prices aren't right either. The Code3 pulleys are no longer $599 (that was a sale back in July), they're $650 now. Also the NeedsWings intake manifolds were only $1200 for the initial run. The regular price on them is $1500 (I think - I can't find the thread now). Also, isn't the LET custom tune $800, not $500? The InMotion custom tune is $500.

Tom, hopefully we will be close to 11's when we get our intake manifolds and tunes.

Hey Photoman, I thought you purchased the NeedsWings intake manifolds? Is your best time with the manis or without? Is the time listed about with or without them?

I really hope to break into the 11's with the addition of the manis. I might need to add a set of ET Streets to make it though. I've got all kinds of traction issues now. I can only imagine what the traction will be like with another ~35 whp.

Guys, keep in mind, I didn't pick up anything with just adding the intake mani's at the track. I'm not sure, but without a tune, you probably wouldn't see much of a gain. At least that was my experience with them. Soon as I got the tune from Jerry (which was not even a tune for these mani's), The car picked up like an animal! It really is all in the tune, but I think the combo of a good tune with these mani's make it that much better.

His new tune is ferocious! With or without the mani's. I felt a night and day difference between tune version 1 and 2!!!

Couple of things I would ask that might impact cost:

1) Are you looking to lay down consistant -11.999 runs every time at the track? - or would you happy hitting it on just one pass?

2) Do you want your SRT6 to be a street-able drive? i.e. can you drive to the track, lay down 4 or five -11.999 runs then drive on the highway / street with no issues - burning premium fuel (91 - 94 octane)?

Or do you want a race day setup - Hot tune, race fuel, exhaust cut-outs, Drag Radial's etc.... Or some combination?

Yeah, I know!! When I launched it at the track I was like "holy shhhyt"! Now I understand what the car feels like with a tune and without! lol

We will see what my $2198 brings me on the 15th

Needswings Intake $450
Code 3 Pulley (First Gen) $599
Code 3 6mm spacers $99
LET Tune 2.0 $500
Burns Resonator Removal $400
Johnson Pump $150

For me, I want to drive it there....let it cool down and run an 11.....once would be fine and then drive this baby to dinner. No drag radials or high octane tune! We have 93 at all the pumps in Dallas~
